Ok quilters - what quilt related gifts did you get for the holidays?

I received a pair of gingher pinking shears. Makes me so happy! I've
wanted some forever and have always been to cheap to buy them for myself.

I also was given a box of aurifil thread. It's a nice assortment of
colors that will be fun to use in projects.

How about you?

Nothing quilty this year - I really didn't ask for anything quilt
related, so that's not a surprise. I did get three skeins of beautiful
hand-painted sock yarn and a ball winder, so I see some knitting in my
future!

Nothing quilty, unless you count the scraps of "Fairy Frost" fabric left
over from the dresses I sewed for the 3 granddaughters' American Girl
dolls. If I buy fabric for doll clothes, I like to buy quilting fabric,
so I can easily use the scraps. I did get a "nostepinne" -- a stick for
winding balls of yarn for knitting.

Nothing quilty for me this year, either! But, like others, I hadn't
asked for anything; I think I have just about everything I want for the
moment. LOL! DH gave me a beautiful new jewelry "armoire" to replace my
ancient jewelry box that was falling apart, and there were lovely gifts
from the DDs and their families, too. Best of all, though, we've spent
more time than usual together (everyone is on vacation from work at the
moment), and no one had any spats or arguments. :D Sometimes the stress
of the season takes a toll, but things seem to have gone along really
well this year! That's the best gift of all. :)

I didn't get any gifts, but I count my first grandchild's first Christmas as my quilty gift. Someone to quilt "for" counts, right??

Well, the 'new' house with a sewing room kind of my gift this year. Dh
says
take the sewing room and dining room and whatever else I want as far as he
is concerned. We did splurge and buy a bedroom set for the new place too.
Since it is bigger there will be some quilting needing to be done for that.
Maybe those count as quilt related gift if you stretch?

If new Ginghers won't make a quilting gal happy not much else will!
Decadent!

ps- my youngest sis got engaged for the first time yesterday!

DD gave me a hand quilted Butterfly Table runner from a Craft Bazaar. It is
really pretty. And a dozen boxes of differently named Crayola Crayons that I
don't have yet. (Some of you may remember when I recieved a Tinned box set
of 64 Crayola Crayons from a now deceased RCTQ'er---story for another day
for the Newbies-----DD has been adding to my collection since :) )
And because I coudn't put up my Train set under the tree this year, SIL gave
me a large ceramic Train Engine (White with holly leaves and gold details
all over) Just gorgeous!

Also, a Food Landscapes Calendar (www.carlwarner.com) to keep me up-to-date

2 pieces of fabric (not measured yet, but one green and the other
white/gold, 3 assorted quilty books - always interesting to read/look
at, and 49 reels or part reels of assorted cotton thread (SisinL
frequents thrift shops and over the years I must have accumulated every
shade of cotton thread from her). Got Amazon tokens too, so I can buy
books as 'needed' and some cash for quilty things Amazon don't stock!

Mine isn't quilting related, but it is sewing related. I got cones of
serger thread in four different colors!

My husband gave me several crisp $100 bills and told me it was "mad
money" to spend as I wish. Of course it will all go toward quilting
fabrics and supplies. My daughter-in-law made me a lovely necklace
with a quilting pattern theme. Sorry I can't remember the technique
she used.

No quilty gifts, but I have been replacing all my tins and cookie
cutters that have lasted nearly 20 years now and are either warped,
rusted or losing that lovely "non stick finish". I'm going for silicone
now, that can be washed easily and doesn't rust! The good news is that
*everyone* gave me Lakeland vouchers, so I have bought everything my
heart desired and still have vouchers left over! (I will be using them
to get Mark's birthday present - shhh!)

My niece sent over fabric and American sweets for my birthday, so I
handed the fabric straight over to Tristan, and put it in his sewing
basket. All this will be yours one day, my son.....
