Knowing full well that some of you don't begin Christmas shopping until Dec
24th, I thought you might like to see a great find. There are always some
teens on our gift list who like $s the best. They might prefer their very
own oil refinery or McDonald's branch since their gas tanks and tummies seem
to be always empty. Anyhow. I wanted a special way to wrap their money
gifts and found an idea over at Herrschners.
They have a kit for felt tree ornaments that have a pocket on the back
for tucking in money. The patterns are fairly accurate and the felt rather
sub-standard but with some leftovers from other projects and some bling from
my genuine crystal setter, the ornaments are quite dazzling.
Not affiliated, of course, just thought you might like a special way to
gift wrap money.

Those are very cute Polly. How many have you made? We need to find a way
for you to post pictures somewhere. I have this feeling that the group is
missing out on some very wonderful projects.

I will post the pics if our dear Polly can get her friend to snap the
photos. We did it once before and it worked out just fine. I'll even
create her very own WebShots site rather than post the pics on mine. Can we
tempt you, Polly? Pretty please???

The kit is just for six and, naturally, we needed seven so I made one from
scraps (quilting skills to the rescue).
My neighbor who does pictures for me has become addicted to Celtic
appliqué. It will be a while before I can tear her away from her quilt. I
think we would call her 'highly motivated'. I get the old pom-poms out and
cheer her on every chance I get. Oh my goodness, how I do love to teach
someone who truly wants to learn. Thank you, Leslie. We'll do pictures one
day. Polly

Please? pretty please? I bet someone has a digital camera from which they
upgraded that we could send to Polly to keep! Hummm....we'll have to keep
an eye and ear out for lonely 1.5 M cameras. Heck, I may have one around
here somewhere. Or was that the one that got lost? Well, anyway. I bet
there are some sitting in drawers with the cell phones that have been
replaced.

I'm pretty sure of it too. I know I wished I could have seen that
ducky quilt she told us about. But happily for us, Polly writes in a
most wonderful descriptive style that does give us great mental
pictures.

When I replaced my cell phone, I took the old phone and charger down to
the local law enforcement office. They give them to people who don't
have/can't afford cell phones, but need something to call 911 in an
emergency. Check with your local law enforcement or women's shelter to
see if they can use the phones you're no longer using.

I know they have a program like that around here too. But I've never had my
act together at the same time I have my cell phone(s) collected to follow
through. see? That's why I need my lists!!!! :-)

I was just thinking (now, there's a sentence beginning that scares the pants
off our near and dear), that I would start looking for a book titled
'cameras for real dummys'. I honestly did try to read our book on the new
cell phone. It seems to be translated from Portuguese by a Bangalahara
sushi chef. Meanwhile, enjoy the peace and quiet. One day, I'll be posting
non-stop with hundreds of tedious pictures of our great-grandchildren and
whatever brilliant project is underway. Polly

The picture is too small. Please send me one or two of
the ornaments with the money or gift cards enclosed so
I can judge for myself. You have my address.

What a great idea! (Especially the bling.) And if felt ornaments don't
appeal, seems like we could be whipping up some of those little wallets in
Christmas fabric.

That is one really fun hat. As you say, it would be
nice to have on hand for the unexpected gift. After the
holiday, the extra hats could be donated to a homeless
shelter, and to a clinic treating (bald) chemo
patients. Thanks for link.

Thanks for the link, Polly! But I feel just a little disappointed, I
thought it was your annual joke coming a bit early.

Thanks for sharing the pattern! I printed it out right away! I'll soon
begin the process of making fleece hand-puppets for a couple of the GGKs,
and I've laid in a stash of neat fleece prints.... what doesn't go into
puppets will likely go into these hats!
