I knew I was addicted, when one of my colleagues wore a new jumper to
work and all I could think about all day was that the pattern on it was
perfect to be made up as a quilt.
It's cream with a large flower in the middle (dresden plate) and then
blocks of small squares (nine blocks) and zigzags (seminole) and
flowers (appliqued) above and below. The flowers, blocks etc are in
orange, olive, mustard yellow and brown and go together beautifully
though it doesn't sound it from this description.
I've drawn it all out, but it'll be ages before I get round to making it
unfortunately!

How 'bout when you're laying in bed without your glasses and see a pattern
in the wall paper (this is really ugly wall paper when you can actually see
it, without my glasses it's all lights and darks). Think I'll try to get
that down on paper! :)

re the attached notes:

I knew I was in trouble when a man at work wore a tie which looked as
though it just HAD to be made into a quilt...and I made him photocopy it
for me!

Then, the Korean lady in the corner store had on a really different and
interesting blouse.... almost an irregular log cabin sort of pattern,
with purple, yellow, black and olive green.... just fabulous...and I made
such a big deal about it that she brought it in one day in a bag so I
could copy it. I took it to Kinko's and had a colour copy made......

Of course, both patterns are still in my binder of projects to make
"someday"!!!!!

AND...speaking of floors....I stayed at the Tropicana my recent trip to
Las Vegas, and the marble floor near the front desk is composed of
several different quilt patterns, including Mariner's Compass and
Tumbling Blocks..... sigh....I just don't know when to quit!!!! Quilting
patterns everywhere!!!!!!!!!!

Right on Lynn,
I do the same thing, walk behind somebody and think (sometimes out loud)
"Boy would I love to fussy cut that and make a quilt). I did this to a
lady at our guild and she said I couldn't do that to her as she's have
holes all over her blouse and then she'd have to buy a new one. Then she
said "On second thought, go ahead then I have a good excuse to buy a new
blouse". I didn't take her up on it though, as it was warm out and she
didn't have a jacket to cover all the holes in her blouse. ha ha ha
Wherever I go I see quilt patterns, now if I only had enough time to do
it all.;-)))

Haven't seen movie, but would like to, if only to see quilts. ;-} My dad has
been doing research on our family tree and recently dug up the orgin of our
clan - Scot/Irish not sure which side of the border since it seems that we were
a bunch of mercenaries and switched back and forth frequently. However, we
were on the Scottish side long enough to obtain our tartans. could be the

There's a beautiful crazy quilt in THE MIRROR HAS 2 FACES (w/ Barbra)... good
thing it was on video so I could hit "pause"! I think it's interesting how
they choose certain patterns of quilts for certain scenes or personalities.
I've noticed Dr. Quinn (yes, Medicine Woman!) only uses the crazy quilt for
nutso patients, and uses a boring tied sqare patchwoork quilt for when times
are rough.

Wow, that's neat about the quilts in Dr. Quinn. I'd noticed all her clinic
patients were lovingly covered with quilts, but hadn't paid attention to
the patterns (usually I'm multitasking during t.v. time, anyhow, and not
really "watching" the t.v.!). It makes sense, when you think about it.
Even if someone doesn't happen to know the name of a "crazy quilt" includes
the word "crazy", it all adds to the mood of a scene, just like background
music does. There are orderly, symmetrical patterns...and there are crazy
quilts going every which way with no rhyme or reason to the pattern. That
little bit of set dressing would help set the mood almost subliminally
(except to sharp-eyed quilters, who pay attention!) I think I'll pay
attention next time....

It's the colours and textures that get me - I see fabric I like and it says
quilt me/or sew something with me, it does not even have to be new fabric or
scraps it can even be the skirt on the woman beside me wanting to be quilted
together with that old shirt I have in my stash!
Maybe that supports the genetic thing, Mum studied commercial art at uni,
and both Mum and Dad are creative (and both can drive a sewing machine) Mum
quilts, Dad does woodwork and fixes things both do pottery and I like doing
all of these and any other crafty thing I can .
I also collect fabric and beads, lace, cotton, paper, buttons, bells, etc.
when I get them cheap ( just so I have them for when I might want to use
them) I also collect anything else I think I may use in the next 20 years
(Gumnuts, seed pods, ice cream containers, clothes that will be out of
fashion before the kids grow into them anyway etc.) and find it hard to
throw anything out!!!!! Mum also gives Me crafty bits that she has no room
for (she has learnt to throw stuff out - moved house a lot , but so have I
and I still hoard) ,because I admire them, so I take them, even though I
have a lot more stuff and less room than Mum. :)
