Hello all,

does any of you know of a fabric with cat motifs which cover an area of
about 4 inches/10 cm square? I'm looking for a new 'centrepiece' for a quilt
for DD. I had planned to make her one in the Chinese Coins pattern with
larger inserts or 'medallions' (if that is the correct term for a square or
rectangular one) with a 'Pixar's "Cars" tm'. However, she seems to have
grown out of her 'Cars' phase and since I have all the other fabrics to go
with that red fabric and want to make her one now, Cats (and not too cute
ones) seem an acceptable replacement which might last her for a couple of
years. The colour scheme should be red/orange/yellow. I would be so grateful
for any hints and it would save me an age of searching in the jungle of
patchwork fabrics.

Thanks in advance,

U.

I've just made a handbag for my daughter from Laurel Burch 'Cats' fabric
and it's *lovely*. Only thing is, the design's blue and perhaps more
stylised than you might like.

I believe the pattern is also available in a multi-colourway, which
leans more toward red/orange. Do a google or ebay search on Laurel Burch
Cats and see if you like what crops up.

Oh, that is exactly what I have been looking for without knowing. I did a
search but it seems hard to get. I'll have to look a little more later on.
Thank you!

My favourite online store for kitty fabrics is equilter.com (not
affiliated blah blah blah!).

Wonderful, just wonderful!!! I did google but this shop didn't show up.
Well, I have to admit that I didn't go for shops but for themed fabric.
Anyway, nothing beats a hint from someone who's been around a while. Thank
you so much, Sally, I think I'll find what I want there. But, dazed and
tealess as I am at this time of the morning: How do I order? Just mail them
with fabric code and amount you want?

At the bottom of the 'cat fabric' page there is a red blob that you
press to order. You then get an order form with little pictures of the
cat fabrics below and a space for amount (min. of 1/2 metre or yard I
think). I have only bought from her at shows, but her husband, Laurence,
has a parallel business specialising in EQ. I got my EQ and upgrades
from him and he operates a very helpful service for people who buy from
him - i.e. he sorts out our EQ problems and bugs! I'm surprised he
hasn't sorted his wife out with an easier order method, though I do like
his method of entering credit card numbers - separate blocks of 4 so you
can follow whereabouts in the long number you are!

I have been tempted too.........

Hah, I ordered and was treated like a customer should be; that is an
excellent shop and I can only recommend it (and Joyce has three Siamese
kitties, too, but what would you expect from an expert in cat fabrics. ;-).
Plus, her shipping costs are really reasonable. Waiting for the fabric to
arrive... ;-)

I knew they'd be good - anyone living in a street called Treacle Lane
and having cats would be!

British Patchwork and Quilting Mag. has a monthly article highlighting a
quilt shop and Joyce and Laurence had a whole month each.

Wow, that's quite a long list - two fabrics! Sorry for my sarcasm. Thank you
for replying; however, I found my cat fabric quite a while ago and I think I
posted it here. If I didn't - I found it at 'The Contented Cat' amongst a
great variety of fabrics and with excellent service.
