Scrap quilts. Any and all shapes and sizes of scraps can come live in my
house and join in playing with the scraps that have found a good home here
already!
I dont need to use just scraps that have come from my own projects. I love
it when I get scraps from other places, I imagine what they were used for,
what their former life was, how loved they are ..... I am afraid I have a
very vivid and active imagination!
I love being able to handle them, to love them, to get them to play with
others, to tell me who they want to be beside and ...... well you get the
idea.
~KK in BC~ who is diligently working on getting back into the sewing room!
P.S. ... I am in the directory! haha, now how's that for a beg?
...and I love making quilts for Victory Junction Gang Camp.
What better than to make scrap quilts for VJGC? :) (And when better to
mention an affiliate of Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp....)
If anyone's not familiar with Victory Junction (NASCAR fans likely are aware
of it),
http://www.victoryjunction.org/aa_home/index.html is the VJGC site....
http://www.victoryjunction.org/aa_help/help07_sewing.html is the VJGC site
sewing program page, including the quilts
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victory_Junction_Gang_Camp is the short form
description, if you want an objective site describing it. Coming soon, by
the way, is the second campus of VJGC near Kansas City on the KS side, so
even more quilts will always be needed....... :)
Just in case someone's sitting around saying "boy, I have time to make more
quilts than I need myself, wonder who could use them?" :)

This way of appliqué means you only draw out the shapes once, as a whole
design. The appliqué fabric just needs to be in "chunks" big enough to
cover the shape plus seam allowances. Bigger is fine. No pins to get in
the way of the thread as you do the final stitching (you will probably
have a pin or two to hold the fabric in place as you baste the fabric to
the background). And no marks on the right side of any of the fabrics. <G>
Try it, you may decide you really like it. <VBG> Very portable too.
Now machine appliqué--- that is a whole 'nother story. <G>
