Tomorrow, I'll finish putting the Stash away (got about half of that
done, today) and (yuk) clean up the kitchen. What a mess. And paint
the two grates chrome-silver (and maybe the wicker clothes-hamper, too
... it'll be its fourth "color" -- and why not?
But I had fun, and when all is said and done, it'll have been another
5-day project (so much for "*I* can paint a room in a single day" ...
again :-) ). Off to finish putting up the greens,

Sounds cool, if you just *gotta'* have purple....
One tip, on the door swinging shut:
take out one of the hinge pins, smack it w/ the side
of the hammer, just bending it a bit, not much,
and replace the pin in the hinge (may have to
tap it back into place); this should cause enough
friction to stop the door from swinging.

Mebbe, but with the understanding that with ME as the photographer,
there'll be a LOT lost in translation!
Grins,
Sairey (who notes, re Singer's parenthetical above, that a purple
bedroom is one of the MANY advantages of NOT having a DH to veto
anything :-D )
Took 8 (yes, EIGHT) hours to put it back (with Mr. Thunder-Gnasher on
the alert ... hard-working attack-cats were sound asleep, but the
sledge-hammer NEVER sleeps :-) ) -- and I've had about all I want to
do with fabric for a few hours!

You gotta remember, Kak (and the rest who were astonished at the
energy-level) that I have a VERY empty nest, here! No spouse (thank
goodness), kids grown and gone (thank goodness) -- and I was on
VACATION!
I ate when I thought about it, got busy when I wanted to, tried to
remember my 8 glasses of water (yuk). Didn't have to cook; didn't have
to entertain anyone; didn't even have to take a shower (and I didn't,
for 3 days ... YIKES! But why bother ... just wash it off all at one
time seems more efficient to me, when I don't have to show off (or smell
good) for anyone else).
Lost 3 pounds (no tellin' how much of that was the paint I washed off
at the end -- I tend to WEAR a lot of my paint :-) ). My "painting
costume" does NOT include silly things like brassieres or shoes --
there's nobody here to see, after all ...

There are two, Barbara -- one, on my bed even as I write, is the very
first, original HUG quilt (lawsy, we've done a lot of HUGgin' since
then! And isn't it great?) -- and yes, quite purple (although it's a
fascinating exercise, people's ideas of "purple"). The other is the
Burgoyne Surrounded quilt top I finished a few weeks ago ... which will
be quilted sometime this century ...
Grins,
Sairey
Dunno, Carolyn, but I LIKE this girl (and her mom's taste in names is
impeccable :-) )
Grins,

Why wait, indeed! I've worn purple forever (but the skirts are short,
when I wear skirts -- hell, I got LAIGS, and don't have much else to
brag about these days :-) ) ...
Not much into spittin', but a collection of beermats might be just the
ticket ...

Haven't lived there in the last 20 years, but I still remember just how cold it was! And to
top it off...we even lived in the UP for one winter---40* for the high of the day---BEFORE
you figured in the wind factor. UGH!
So, I guess I'll just stay right here in CA --even if it did snow here for the first time
in umpteen years last Jan--today it was 60* on my thermometer......

I confess that I'm a bit disappointed in myself (must be slowin' down,
in my dotage ...) -- not even a case. Hell, not even a 12-pack!
Grumble ...
> When does the Finished Party begin?
Oh, it already has (workin' on the rest of that case)! The Hostel is
open (especially now that I've got the Stash back up and properly
guarded and booby-trapped) ... I COULD use a little help getting the
paint off the kitchen sink, though ... any takers? I have beer (and
even purple M&M's, thanks to some friends o' mine :-) ) ...
Grins,
Sairey (who started to say she'd go play some pool next weekend, but
realized she's gonna be in Tucson ...)
One question. Either during the unloading or the reloading of the stash
unit, did you come across anything strange, unusual, or forgotten. No?
Well, dahling, you have a much better handle on your stash than I do on
mine. Most of what I find in there I have very little recollection of.
That's my excuse though for always buying more.
Take care, and sweet dreams.
Sounds beautious, Sarah!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh !!!!!!!!!
When I mentioned in an earlier post that I thought I didn't have much
purple to wear, I just remembered my most memorable wearing of purple. In 1972
, my husband-to-be called from Ft. Bragg ( army post) and said why didn't he
drive up to Washington D.C. the coming weekend, and we could go & get married.
I said "why not". He wore a navy suit & I wore a lavender sweater outfit. A
lavender mini "sweater" skirt with a matching lavender sweater with tiny bright
flowers embroidered on it. I had on dark brown suede "above the knee" boots
& long blond straight hair. Talk about the "flower power" look. We drove
to Alexandria, Va. to the courthouse to get married, came home and called our
parents to inform them & then went into Georgetown to celebrate with friends.
& me still in my purple wedding outfits. I still have to laugh at the photos
from that day.

when I stopped in at the local carpet store a few months back
(campaigning for a police cause), then was a beautiful purple carpet
remnant. My mind started twirling, figuring out where to put it. Haven't
gone back yet, but I figger it is still there. The gal who was with me,
