I turned in my ugly fabric challenge top today just four days
late oh well they accepted it. There is no way in H--- that I will
win anything from this. Dumb me understood it as to make something
out of the ugly fabric that would focus on the ugly fabric. My teens
told me this was the ugliest quilty thing I have ever made. All of the
other tops and quilts were wonderful. I made flowers from the ugly
fabric in a grandma's flower garden pattern, placed them on vines
and rooted them in a terra cotta pot. The back ground is a wonderful
light turquoise fabric. All of this I did by machine appliqué, which was
a class I took at Houston in 2000. The ladies at the store according
to DH were probably giggling at my effort after I left. When I get
the top back it will probably get tossed in the UFO stack to be ignored.
What a day , (big sigh) Woe is me.

Awww, are you sure its all that bad??
And if it is, why not just say oh well and give it to a worthy cause?
No quilt is truly ugly if it keeps someone warm. :-)
Does the D in DH mean something other than dear this time?? It would to me
if he made a comment like that...and I love my DH to pieces!
Yay about quilting again!!!!!

Did we make the same ugly fabric quilt?
My guild too had an ugly fabric challenge kit- yellow flowers on
avocado cactus plants, plus three other co-ordinating fabrics,
grey/green, tan, and rust. And I did a still-life, flowers appliqued
in bouquet form, in a basket... And it turned out pretty nice, but
it is still U-G-L-Y.
I'll show you mine if you show me yours <G>

(((((( HUGS ))))))
This has been a really rough week for you! Go put on some nice music, run
some bubble bath or with bath salts or even olive oil if nothing else is
around. Dim the lights, light some candles, sink into the blissful steam,
feel the warm water sluicing thru your fingers as you slowly wave them back
and forth in the water. Slide both hands in front of you and close your
eyes. Slowly tighten your fingers as you imagine... one by one... every
person that frustrated you this week being held under by you. There!
Wasn't that refreshing? :o)

We've said it before: there's no fabric ever made that somebody doesn't
think it's beautiful. Bear in mind that your close family members very
likely share your taste, and that's why they agree it's ugly. But chances
are, somebody out there will love it and be unable to see why it qualified
for the challenge.
BTW, I think your DH and teens need some attitude adjustment :-)

Roberta, I do agree that no fabric is truly ugly but I have seen Diana's
fabric for the challenge and if there was an ugly fabric, this one would be
it. I participated in the challenge, too, and was fortunate enough not to
get the same fabric as Diana did. At least she did something with it. If I
had gotten that particular fabric, it would have gone in the stash and been
ignored forever. Oh well, at least she was brave enough to stretch her
creativity and she has my admiration for that! We may not win but we had a
good time!

Thanks Judy for the nice words,
I just felt so bad about that
project the fabric was just so ugly.
I did what I could.
