hi! I am new to quilting. I recently finished my first watercolor quilt--I
could hardly believe that I could make something so pretty! : )

Anyway, I've been reading and enjoying all the postings everyone has made
and just want to connect with all of you in some way. Thanks, Bigbearlady
for responding--as a matter of fact, one of my favorite places in So Cal
(I'm now in Michigan) is Big Bear Lake! I lived in Hesperia for 5 years and
moved here in Michigan in '93. I miss it.

Anyway, I have bought some of those quilt square kits from JoAnn Fabrics to
try out different types of squares (cheating?) and have been busy with
those. The watercolor quilt was made of a TON of 2" squares--easy to sew.
It's something I have found I really enjoy.

Thanks everyone!

Doing a watercolor quilt is a real achievement. I did one welcome
wallhanging and a heart design wallhanging for my son Scott's office.
And I considered myself through with watercolors for life. You're
doing great. Rhoda

Why Rhoda? (Okay, so I'm naive---I thot a watercolor would be just like any
other, but with prettier fabric) Is there some special technique I'm not
thinking of?

What part of Michigan are you in? I'm Michigan born'n'bred, lived near Ann
Arbor for 32 of my 35 years, and just moved to PA about six months ago.
Never been to California.
I've never done a watercolor quilt, but I'm having a blast with the Log
Cabin I'm making for my sister. Every fabric in my stash is in there
somewhere. She wanted variety, by golly, she's gonna get it!
Next time I make a king-size LC, I'm using wider strips.(g)
