I realized after completing 6 blocks that trying to make all 12 would be
rather larger than the lap quilt I intended. :-) Six blocks did nicely.

It really is stunning - very Elizabethan looking. (Love the little
feet too!)

You did a beautiful job! Did you embroider the block names or is that
something else?

Oooooh! Those subtle shades on black are so lovely! Wonderful quilt! :)

Thank you. I did the block names with one of the built-in alphabets in
my sewing machine -- it's got alphabets that you don't need to use the
embroidery module for, just program in what you want it to stitch out,
make sure you've put in a presser foot with a wide opening, and put some
stabilizer underneath the fabric. Voila. (I'm slowly learning to make
use of the many, many features of my sewing machine. *grin*)
The patterns for the blocks are here:

The feet, well, I didn't make 'em. You'd have to ask my mother-in-law.

Heh, they aren't so little. That's DH holding up the top. Although I
think he's got the second smallest pair of feet in the house now (mine
being the smallest), since all three of our boys have huge feet (they're
also all taller than DH as well).

Yup, it's all by machine. I don't do much hand work anymore -- it
aggravates a recent hand injury.

Cool! I can't wait til I show my mom this one. Lately some of the
blocks for Baltimore album quilts have started to appeal to her but
she's not sure she wants to do a whole bed size one and not sure she
wants all that much white. I'm sure she will have plenty of ideas in
her head when she sees this rose quilt. She loves roses.

Hey, who said a Baltimore album has to have a white background? Your
mom can make the background any color she likes! Dark neutrals work
really well -- if she doesn't like black, try dark brown. I think any
color would work as long as it's not so bright that lots of it would
blind you. (Now watch someone find a pic of a stunning Baltimore album
quilt on a hot pink background, hehe!)
The patterns for the rose blocks are at
http://www.quiltime.com/downloadC.html in case she really likes *those*
rose blocks.

I finally got a chance to read this and the hot pink background gave
me the laugh I needed today. I'm saving the web addy in case mom
wants some of those roses too. Thanks.
