We have a local chain store, it's kind of a half way house between a LQS
and Joanns, though definitely on the quilt store end of the scale, they
sell quilt store brands.
I browsed the regular price quilting fabric, I'm still totally in love
with the most recent Kauffman fusions, they've rearranged and this time
my eyes caught the browns and greys, but at full price they only get
bought when I'm planning something specific!
So I wondered down to the remenants table and instantly saw a long piece
of fabric in a print that looked like it would work well for a one block
wonder type quilt, so I grabbed that, not sure if I will do a one block
wonder or use it for something else. A lot of what they have on that
table is novelty fabric, or small florals, but I got lucky today with
some marbled and tone on tone, I decided I'd buy all they had of 3
fabrics that I liked, because although I like to use lots of fabrics in
a quilt, you often need lots of one to pull it together and I usually
don't have that in my stash.
When I checked my receipt it was all 3.99 a yard, I'd thought it was
4.99, so it didn't cost as much as I expected. It's all in the washing
machine now!
Cheers

What fun to find a great piece of fabric on the remnant table (although
I confess I would have loved the small florals too) AND to have it cost
even less than you thought. :-) Woo-hoo!

They were pretty ugly, I'd usually go for that kind of thing too! Even
though I haven't been to that store for over 6 months, there were still
plenty of things on the table that I recognised!

It sounds like a *very* productive day, Anne! :)
