I think it will totally work! (and apparently I am short one block -
hence the hole in the middle)

That looks stunning - I love the light/dark pinwheel effect where the
diamonds join, even if it is accidental !

Howdy!

Smoke on the water!

Gopher in the hole!

...

Oh, yeah, that will work, Karen.
You know there will be sharks circling to beg for it if you
can't stand to live with it. ;-D

It's wonderful and I love the colors....but why won't just moving
the inside star points on the left & right side so they meet up with
the other 1/2 of the star point and the same with your 9 patch
blocks? I must be missing something here. Which won't be the
first time. lol

oh my goodness, Karen, that is stunning!!!!!
i especially love the floating hexagon on the middle.
the 9 patches have me a bit confused tho.
some of the 9 patches appear are turned differently (the dark square)
from the corresponding opposite ones.
unless that was an 'on purpose' difference.
love how you got such a fantastic gradation of colours too.
well done you!!!!!

If you mean, you see something that's not a mirror image, I can't find
what you're seeing. Can you be more specific?

I followed a picture that came with the pattern, I don't know exactly
what you mean. And don't worry, it's not the first time for me either!

I really like your color choices! looks like a blue sea of
pointsettias!!

It's all in the pinning at this stage...as long as you can match/cross
the seams, it'll work.

great job! can't wait to see it finished.

the dark squares in the 9 patches appear different, not all mirror images.
the 3 middle ones
and the the four corner ones
(cant see all the bottom 2 but can see where the dark squares are
facing...they're different).

i think thats all i see different.
i need lunch so could be wrong on all that too.
what do i know.

Beautiful, Karen.
I'm so very glad you didn't give up on it. The large version you have
made is just stunning.

I have read the rest of the messages on the thread! I had just written
down (from the picture) the adjustments needed for symmetry! and then I
read J.'s posts >g<. As I see it: the top left 9-patch needs to be
turned through 90 clockwise. The 9-patch next to the hole needs the
same turn.
If you stand at a little distance and check all the secondary patterns,
you will see.

Stunning!Better than Jinny's :-) (But do double check the orientation
of the 9-patches before you assemble.)

Finally I get to throw my 2-cents into this thread. Karen, when you get
that last 9-patch done and turn the two of them as Pat on Her Hill has
directed, for Heaven's Sake take a picture of the arrangement and print it
for constant reference.
It would be just SO easy to assemble that beauty with one sneaky diamond
or 9-patch pivoting while you're stitching it. It truly would. Polly
