OK.
I purchased the Clover Slash Cutter (HAD to
use the 50% off coupon from TSWLTH for SOMEthing)
Now,
Is there anywhere on the web that I can see some
examples? Anybody here ever tried making it? (any
hints/helps for me?)

Mickie, who is going to buy Nanette Holmberg's
"Techniques for Creating Faux Chennile" today

I did once, after stumbling onto it several years ago on some TV program. I
didn't use a slasher-thingy because they didn't exist then, although I've heard
they're very handy for this.

Also, I assume I missed the instruction to slash only on the bias, so some
parts of my garment (It was a jacket) are, um, better than others.

What they demonstrated was making a kimono-style jacket out of a length of
fabric by cutting sleeve shapes in from the side, making a slit up the front,
and stitching side seams. I used 4 layers of fabric, and it weighs about 400
pounds. I don't think fewer than 4 layers would give the desired result, so
I'd recommend using the technique for smaller items, like vests.

I haven't tried making faux Chenille ...YET! But I saw the perfect
project at my LQS. They have a baby blanket made with pastel plaid flannels.
It's beautiful! And so soft! Looks like it would be pretty easy too.

I made a jacket--three pastel (blue, peach, tan)layers on an ecru linen
base. Appliqued some butterflies on it. Sleeves are just the linen, no
chenille. Looks fantastic. Weighs a ton! Used a book that comes with
patterns and can't remember the name of it. Have the fabric to make a black
denim skirt with a vest of chenille on a black denim vase......someday.
Make sure you have a good tv show to "listen" to while you slash. BORING.
All the marking and stitching is boring too, but the result is worth it.

Watched an episode of Sewing with Nancy yesterday. It was the series on
denim and chambray. They made chenille from layers of denim, but just used
it for collars on vests, or the yoke of a jacket etc. I always thought that
the multiple layers of fabric would be quite heavy. Just one more thing to
add to the "to do" list!

I bought Nanette Holmberg's book, Variations on
Chenille, and read it from cover to cover. (Now I see
she has another book due out this month, so I guess
I will have to buy that one too!) For anybody interested
in Faux Chenille, the book is very enlightening and
informative, all of my questions were answered before
I thought of them!
The best part is this is a wonderful way to use up
all the uglies you might have, that is if you like the
colors in the fabric, but not the print.

Another thing is some cozy slippers. My Favourite Things has a pack that
has multiple sizes, I've seen them and they look quite easy to do as a first
project.
