Polly has some more photos that she wants to share with us - I decided
that she should have her own album! You can see her baby hug quilt
here http://community.webshots.com/user/barnyowl
I think that the joy shown on Abby's face is all the thanks that Polly
needs?
I hope that there will be more creations to share at a later date?

I'm speechless. I'm beyond speech.

Quilt is beautiful, little girl is darling and the painting is hysterical.
Great use of light, Polly!

Those brought a big smile to my face too! I can only imagine how wonderful
it was for Polly to receive this picture of Abby, who is so delighted by her
special HUG! Polly, may I ask where you donate all your HUGS? All to one
facility or do you have several? Just being snoopy - I'm always curious
about such things!

Thanks for Polly's page, Jenn.
What a lovely idea.
Sweet baby, and sweet quilt - so very pink! all any little girl could
wish.
Hope she is soon all recovered form the hospital treatment.

Love the quilt...... and the baby is beautiful. It's always fun to see who
gets a donated quilt.

Thank you, Cindy. The kitty belongs to our Cheryl cats person. Just wait
until you see the one of Jennifer's Winston. It's going to be awesome.
Winston is sooo cute although I'm usually glad he lives at Jennifer's house.

Lots of places, Louise. Almost every local Salvation Army chapter has a
domestic violence shelter or is affiliated with one. Then there's Newborns
in Need and faith-based organizations. Polly

That precious little one was recently adopted by a neighbor's friend. She
has some medical problems that are terrifying and just look at that smile.
Priceless. I can not tell you how happy I was that we could hug her. Polly

I had to just sail that quilt together. They waited a very long time for
the baby to get here and then quick surgery was needed. The quilt is simply
Warm Wishes. It's a wonderful fast pattern; has saved me many a time.

I declare, Sandy, it looked to me like she had her own cell phone. She's
only had her first birthday and can already sing "Jesus Loves Me". I
suppose she might be able to speed-dial too. Polly

Well, you see, Mary - we don't ever get to see who gets the quilts; they are
sent anonymously with prayers that they will show the love. This is the
first time we've really had a picture of a hug in action. Polly

Yes, Taria, that is what a quilt is about. I hope everybody has printed a
copy of the Warm Wishes pattern. A blessing to me, I'd just revisited
Quiltmaker November 03 and seen the variations. When my neighbor came
flying through all in a panic for a baby girl hug, I was ready.
Quiltmaker's website has two versions at www.quiltmaker.com/patterns; one is
crib size, one is bed size. The bed size one shows some interesting ideas.
Next, I'm going to try it with stripes. Polly

You are most welcome, Polly. I am anxious to see his lordship's
painting when you are ready to show it. Last night, I heard a sound
from the kitchen only to find that he had raided my sewing room for
bobbins and he was skidding them across the floor - unfortunately, the
thread was also loop-de-loop everywhere - except for the amount that I
am almost positive that he ate. I must say that he hasn't done the
thread thing for a very long time (which is probably why I let my
guard down). You should have seen his response to knitting last week
- priceless!! jennellh

Those baby quilt pics are an absolute advertisement for the magic of
hugs! thanks for sharing them, Polly - and I agree with Cindy, your
use of light in the painting is wonderful...not many painters get it.

Jinnellh,

Please make sure your cat doesn't get the thread caught on the back of
his tongue. My sister had a cat that almost died from playing with
thread. It scares me half to death now to leave my studio door open
for fear my Footer man will get in there and get into trouble.

Polly, The baby and the quilt are beautiful. I donated a Hug quilt
top to Karen back in the spring and it was wonderful to see it
finished and to see a pic of the little girl that received it. I will
post a pic later when I figure this all out.

Polly:
Yes, Warm Wishes is really fantastic. You and I are always singing its
praises. <G>
I used that basic idea for a table runner. Each finished block is 4" so I
used just two rectangles in the alternate block. It was quite effective; in
that project, the planned third log was just 'too much' so I was glad the
two log block worked well.

Your quilt is delightful, just right for that beautiful baby. I send her and
her family Warm Wishes for their life together.

I just made one for the first time. I have it pinned but I need to
quilt and bind it this weekend. Easy pattern that looks great.
I'll surely make it again.

Abby is doing so well that today her new mommy and daddy are allowed to
climb in bed with her and hold her. They're expecting that she'll be
allowed to go to her new home tomorrow. The very thought of her medical
needs requiring that they drain some fluid from her brain just takes my
breath away. . . and she continues to show that beautiful smile. What a
special miracle - and we all got to share. Oh my. Polly
