This is a totally off topic post, in preparation for using my blog as an
easy way to post pictures of quilts and such for all of you to see, and to
correspond to my relatives about everyday sort of stuff. I'm not all that
good at letter writing like I should be. This way I can write about generic
stuff and they'll all get an email and they can go read it if they want to.
Anyways, I've posted a few pictures of the moonrise and sunset at school one
day in early December. Yes, the Moonset/Sunrise was about 10:30 am and the
Sunset was about 2:00 pm. Very short day. Want to make sure that you can
view things alright.
Here's the link.

Update on the remodel. SUCCESS! We finished the plumbing under the sink
today and installed the towel bars and things like that. Along the way
there were more snafus. We got the floor scraped of the vinyl flooring glue
down to the cement. That took Bert over a week. One evening while I was
doing a rough layout of the tile on the floor along the chalk lines to see
if things were aligning okay, I was backing up and goosed myself on the
plumbing sticking out of the wall. I quickly stood up and my belt caught on
the cold water supply turning it on. There was a geyser of water all the
way to the ceiling, hitting the light on the way and tripping the breaker.
I was in the dark, and I mean no light at all, feeling around madly for the
water supply thinking something had broken. It had not and I turned off the
water. Once I got the breaker back on I saw the mess. Water dripping off
the ceiling, down the walls, all over the floor. Bert comes back from the
store with me wiping up water with towels. By then I could laugh. No
damage done and no repainting needed.
Anyways, the tiling went well although it took me all day long. Two days
later I grouted. Three days later I treated. That evening we installed the
vanity, sink, toilet and moved the washer and dryer back in. Globes went on
the lights, mirror in place. I know, the spare shower is not done yet but
we're not smelly anymore since we can do laundry again and have the
convenience of another toilet and sink. We've taken pictures along the way
so if my current blog post works I will post a few pictures in the next day
or so.
All in all a busy Christmas break but we got done what I hoped to and it's
off to semester two tomorrow. Not quite ready for it all I must say.
I did do some hand applique which was very enjoyable of course. No books
read, just not enough time. We did go see Avatar. We'll be going again as
we want to see it in 3D. Visually it was amazing in normal view. The
screen had great depth even without the 3D. I can just imagine what it will
be like with 3D.
Good to see all the posts about happy gatherings of all sorts and good
visits all around.

Sounds like success, despite giving the bathroom and extra wash-down... ;)
When the GMNT was still cherub sized, he managed to turn the bathroom
basin tap on FULL. The drain and the overflow couldn't cope. First I
knew was when a cold stream of water poured through the kitchen light
fitting... It all dried out eventually.

So, Class, what have we learned from Steven's trials & errors?
duh: remodel in the nude! if you're nekkid there's no belt to catch
the faucet handles.
No books read? How can that be? Reading is breathing.
Happy New Year, to Steven, & esp. to Bert- he didn't drown the new tile!)

I could be quilting....
