You might consider a book of needlepoint patterns"
Hugh Ehrman, *Fruits of the Earth, Flower and Fruit in Needlepoint", Simon
& Schuster, ISBN 0-671-74987-0
The book features several fruits and vegetables -- Kaffe Fassett's Two Melons,
Peas (all in greens, based on a seed packet design); Jill Gordon's Russian
Tapestry with a melange of fruits (red currents, grapes, cherries,
blackberries, peaches etc.); Margret Murton's Cascade of Fruit, based
on a tapestry border.
Or another book:
Jill Gordon, Needlepoint, Friedman/Fairfax, ISBN-1-56799-215-3
One section is devoted to Fruits and Vegetables, including a still-life
with pumpkins, figs and mushrooms (no chart but a 9" x 9" color image of
the 24 x 24 cushion) with all Paterna (Paternayan) yarn colors, blue
fruit and red fruit (with charts).
There must also be a large number of charts and painted canvases.

Gerda Bengtsson (fancy that!) has designed some amazing botanicals,
including flowering fruits, and medicinal herbs. Her work comes from the
Danish Handcraft Guild and is the most beautiful I've seen yet (I love
botanicals rather than pictures of people, buildings, etc.). I haven't
seen any vegetables of that quality. But I'm very new to the craft, and
there may be designs out there. Most of her books are out of print, but
Dover has one or two still available (and they have a complete needlework
catalog), and my public library had them. Bette Feinstein's Hard-to-Find
Needlework often has her books for sale. Bette Feinstein's on the Web,
and her address is also in the Cross-Stitch FAQ. By the way, the FAQ
is my stitching bible - thanks, Kathleen.
I've ordered Danish flower thread from a place called Art of the Needle in
Whitefish Bay, WI to do the raspberries. Bengtsson has designed plums,
blackberries, a gorgeous forsythia, etc. Happy hunting!

Oh my! Nordic Needle is your local store? Oh my!

far side of the state from Fargo and Nordic Needle--300 miles)
