Does anyone in this group use this computerized program? I have
emailed Colin and he did answer it briefly, when I emailed him back
again, just to clarify I didn't get anything back. I guess your only
allowed one question. Anyway I having problems with trying to get
more detail without having to go to hundreds of colors which makes the
chart so complicated. Also, Im not sure if Im using the Spray size
correctly. If anyone out there can help I sure would appreciate it.

My patterns seem to end up so boxy and not very smooth flowing and
blended does that make sense?

I had the same problem at first. Lowering the scan detail of the picture
helps. The is a facility for smoothing the edges of the image. It's in draw,
I think! It is possible to start with the image really large and then scale
it down allowing it to use fractional stitches. I find 30-40 colours ample
for most pictures. I found the best way was to tinker until I was happy.
Hope this is of some help.

Thank you I will look to see if can do what you mentioned. I really
like the program. I do mostly needlepoint, thinking about getting
their module. But so far it has worked for doing both using the cross
stitch program.

Colin did finally email be back yesterday, and said that yes you can
take a image a bring it done. After that I played with my printshop
program. He also help me with the printout, since at young age (40ish
pushin 50) I have had one cataract removed and implant. I really
don't want to go completely blind.

Do you use the program? also I would be interested in knowing what you
use when you printout your chart, I so far have been using colored
symbols on white pattern with grid.

Jean.

I use it regularly, converting pictures for friends and making charts for
myself. My latest was a wizard casting a spell. I always use black and white
symbols in a grid with 7 squares to the inch. I find this easier to follow
as my sight is failing.

Sara, Thank you so much. I have been playing with the program
more, since I have been home, your suggestions have been very helpful.
Can ask you what package do you use? I do both cross stitch and
needlepoint work, and at the time he did not have a needlepoint module
but was working on it. I dont know if its worth getting the program
or not. I know there is also a delux edition,

I converted a photo, of a feline of mine in the library (edward the
literate) and actually I scanned and sized a set of 5 water color cat
stamps issued in UK
from FDC cover celebrating Cats. They are wonderful. I want to them
as a series.

Thanks again,

Jean

I'm collecting the modules as I go, so far I've only got the cross-stitch
ones, but I'm getting the others this weekend. When I've had a play I'll
post to say how I'm getting on with them.

I've been dabbling with the new modules I received today. The Needlepoint
and Beadwork module is amazing, the choice of stitches are great. The
Blackwork and Punched Card I found a little difficult to follow so I'm still
trying to get to grips with it. The hardanger module is good and clear. The
Torchon Lace module is lovely. The alternate view using stitch shapes is
brilliant. I'd recommend them all.
I'll keep posting as I find more fun things.

Sara, I downloaded the easycross needlepoint module, for some reason
it overlapped my easycross program already loaded. Will it let you
convert pictures well? I saw the sidebar with all the different
stitches.

Also, I don't remember if I have asked you this but do you convert
photographs? and if so what computer program do you use?

Yes, the modules are designed to integrate with the original program.
No, you can't import pictures into needlepoint, more's the pity. Although
you can get it to do it in tent stitch. Check out the import box.
Yes I have converted photographs and lots of other pictures. I scan them
using a flat-bed scanner, then process them with IPhoto4 which isn't the
most advanced photo tool, but it came with the scanner, so who am I to
complain. It doesn't do a bad job.
