I've just started this for the daughter of my best friend. Deja News is
switching servers and unavailable so I have to bother you all with my
questions. I bought DMC's B5200 for the white in the dress, but now I'm
wondering if it is too white. I always use that for white, but I'm
worried that the contrast with the off whites (like 822) that give
dimension to the folds of the dress will be too stark. Has anyone used
the B5200 on this piece? Also I think I've read of people using rayon
thread for the veil, I thought that sounded pretty. Any advice or other
ideas on that?

TIA,

Lynn in Lancaster PA

Lynn,

I did "The Wedding" for my sister two years ago. I did not use B5200 for the
dress. I think that you are right it would be too bright a white for the
dress. I did use a white silk thread for the the veil.

I hope that you enjoy stitching it as much as I did.

Good Luck,

I stitched this piece about 5 years ago and i have to agree i think the bright
white would be too white especially since the beads are an antique white and
not white white. As for the veil I used what it called for but at that time
where I was I couldn't get anything else. I think the silk or rayon would be
pretty on it tho....just my 2 cents.

I did the Wedding 2x.Both times used #1 Anchor wich is what i use for all the
white, be it dresses or wings. I have used this before DMC came out with the
bright white. The folds show up nicly, not to bright.I did one on natural
linen, one on the green, wich i changed the blues to lavenders. Both came out
really nice.Actualy the beads you can see where they are in the dress, and they
just look great. You may want to try Beads for the veil, instead of rayon

I used the B5200 when I stitched The Wedding a couple of years ago. I
thought that it looked great. The bride is also a stitcher and she
loved the B5200 too. I added pearl blending filament to the white for
the veil. It gave it a nice shimmer.

I'm curious......

Since I've seen that so many stitchers have done "The Wedding" design
several times....would you be interested in another Bridal design?

I'm kind of inbetween designs now and could go anyway.
Look for "Celtic Spring" in June and then in July "World Peace" Angel

You can never have "to many" brides to choose from! And yours is lovely.
Perhaps one with a short sleeved dress? Or with the bride and groom in
front of an altar.....

waiting to see what happens!

How about a design appropriate for the mother of a groom??? Not that I am
one, but I've noticed that most of the designs seem focused on the bride
alone, or maybe the back of a groom. The bride may care more about the
actual ceremony than the groom (in general), but there are probably lots of
groom's moms who would love a remembrance of the wedding, even if they have
to (get to??? <lol>) do the stitching themselves. We have a library patron
who has four sons & I'm sure she would love something like that when her
boys get older.

i like the idea of a second time bride, or just a less
elaborate wedding dress on the bride. only some of the
weddings i've been to lately have included the huge,
formal, train-and-all type of dress. those dresses are
pretty, but it wasn't my style, and i know i'm not the
only one.

then again, i've had so many friends get married in the
last two years that all i've been stitching for them is
simple sampler-type pieces.

At the risk of getting myself beamed a good one here I am going to make
a request! After you are through designing another Bride could you
maybe do a Black Rose done with Silk and other wonderous shiny things?
You do paint beautiful flowers and I know that would sell big time even
if you are a people person. I am almost finished with Peace Angel and
have a few others of yours including Angel of Mercy kitted up and ready
to go but I am really wanting a beautiful black rose! You could do this
justice and I know it. Blacks and blues with dark purple.. I am sighing
just thinking about it!LOL

Hi

Thanks for liking my Native American bride idea! gg

Other ideas:

Warning: I do not like modern day wedding dresses that tend to be plain--just
my tastes I guess.

I got to thinking on other wedding ideas and I'm trying to remember if a
Renassiance bride has been done. Or a medieval looking one. I really love
that Ren. Faire gown that's done up like a bridal dress in Simplicity catalog.

In regards to the NA designs I was thinking about a Southwestern Indian
lady--ribbon shirts, those 3-tier skirts, silver necklace.

Then there are . . . nope better stop!

Long ago I was told by a very wise woman that "the mother of the groom
should wear beige and keep her mouth shut". It worked for me when my son
got married. Being the mother of the bride is like walking through
flames while catching butterflies.

I have been searching long and hard for a piece to celebrate our
wedding 2 years ago. I'm really looking for something which I can
best describe as 'sophisticated.' Simple, clean lines on the dress, no
hearts, ribbons, lace, doves, etc. Something with calla and stargazer
lillies, colors such as periwinkle, celadon green and others currently
used for bridesmaids dresses. I have only seen 1 or 2 things which
appeal to both my husband and I. The vast majority of the weddings I've
seen lately are simple yet sophisticated, with elegant lines for both
bride, bridesmaids and groom. Perhaps that reflects the fact that more
people are getting married for the first time later in life. I look
forward to seeing what you will come up with!

While I love your work, I seldom stitch it. Angels and beautiful, wistful
ladies just aren't my thing. That said, the first MLI design I stitched was
the three part flower chart with roses, pansies and violets. I've managed
to keep that one. The second one I stitched was "Santa of the Forest" and
my very dear MIL has that in her living room. She can no longer see well
enough to stitch, but loves to feel the texture of the piece.

So yes. More flowers. A different bride. Maybe even a scenic view or two.

As I'm now going through the Mother of the Bride business with my eldest
child (25 yrs and most strong-willed) - I LOVE your description!! I made
the mistake last week of expressing an opinion on wedding cakes, and got my
head bit off..... I am SO glad that she decided to have the wedding in
Florida where she lives instead of Texas - where I would have been doing the
planning and in the truly horrible position of being BETWEEN her and her
idea of a perfect wedding! Thank God the other 2 are boys.

My first born daughter had to have the the reception at the classiest
place in town. The space could only fit 135 chairs and we invited 250
people. She assured me that their would be plenty of room at this second
floor joint. I told her that unless great Aunt Martha did some sprinting
she wouldn't make it to the top of the stairs fast enough for a seat. I
cojoaled for months and finally had to say...50 more chairs or you pay

Guess what happened......and it looked very crowded!

My mom commented to someone that I was an "easy" bride. :-)) I wore an "off
the rack" Gunny Sax dress that my oldest sister bought for me, DH wore tails
& a top hat & carried a cane and we had a neighbor's 1915 model T Ford drive
us from the church back to the house. My little sister (18) & best friend
(7 mo. pregnant) were my attendants, so I let my mom & sister pick out a
pattern that would be appropriate for both of them. We had the reception in
my mom's back yard & I told her it was "my" wedding and "her" reception. DH
& I gave her the list of people we wanted to invite (50??) and said that
whoever else was or wasn't there was up to her. :-)))))) I have been to
other weddings, though, where you could pretty much tell that the bride &
her mom were making each other crazy. :-)))

OOOOOHHHHHH Yes please!! <G>

I've done the Bride and The Wedding 3 times each, the latest being for
my sister who is getting married this Saturday. None of them look
exactly the same, since I've changed the hair color on all, and the
color of the flower girl's dress to match the colors of bridal party,
but I'd love a new bridal piece!! I'm thinking in a purely selfish
mode here; I'm getting married next September and would love to have
something completely different to stitch for myself. (Otherwise, it
will be The Wedding for us, also....)

I definately agree with the traditional costume from Japan or India.
Beautiful Colors and people. I have searched for oriental women/men to
stitch and it is next to impossible to find a good design of this
subject (in fact I have not been impressed enough with one yet to
