Hi Julie,
I have *scads* of horse designs. I'll look up the titles of all the leaflets
and enter them tomorrow. The nicest arab pattern I've ever seen (just the
head) I mentioned in a post yesterday and I didn't get it because at the
time I thought $15.00 for a pattern was too much. I've got severl Sporting
Masters patterns (highly detailed patterns) one of which is an Arabian
mare and foal. Some of the other patterns I have contain different arab
pictures. The Sporting Masters and the other ones are fully body shots -
are you looking for any specific color of Arab? The Mare is a gray (the
baby is bay) and I can't remember what colors the other are. I'll post
them all tomorrow.

I'll look these up this weekend and list what I have next week. We went
to a business meeting last night and didn't get in until late, so I didn't
get a chance to check on them. Like I said, I've got tons, so it won't
be a problem finding one for you. What level of complexity are you
looking for?
\Caroline B.

Hi Caroline,
It would be great if you did know of some designs, I'm looking for
fairly complex patterns, though the most important thing is that they are
fairly true to life. I'll give anything a go really :)
Thanks,
My niece and I are just getting into computer imaging and photo
enhancing and manipulation - our new computer is supposed to
be ready tomorrow.
If you would like to send me picture of your boyfriends horse I
will scan it into the computer and generate a cross stitch pattern
for you.
The only charge would be for actual expenses such as postage
and if you like the pattern we sure would appreciate a letter we
could show to local craft stores where we hope to market our work.
The photo would be returned to you as all the scanner does is take
a picture.
If you're interested my e-mail address is RNS...@prodigy.com
and I will e-mail you back my snail mail address.

Hi Julie,
Okeydokey, here's most of what I've got. I know I have a couple other ones
floating around somewhere, but I couldn't find them in my chart books (I
*know* I packed them somewhere) but the ones here are the best. If anyone
else has some that I haven't listed, please enter them! :-) I'm always
game to buy more!

o "Horse Head Cameos" by Jan Sorrells, Sporting Masters (these are four
separate single sheet "pamphlets"). Very nice detail, very realistic
looking even though they are fairly small (less than 5" across) in
size. They have some specialty threads (gold) in the buckles on the
halters:
"Number 1 - Light Bay": Looks like a thoroughbred yearling. This one
is also printed in CS&CC July/Aug 1988 issue. (CS&CC Sept/OCT 1989
issue has a "partner" piece not available (that I found) directly from
Sporting Masters. It is a dark bay thoroughbred and it looks to be
about a two year old. It does match well.)
"Number 2 - Dapple Gray": Looks like an arabian adult. Very pretty,
dished face.
"Number 3 - Red Paint": Nice bright red chestnut tobiano. Has enough
of a dished face that it could pass for a half-arab pinto.
"Number 4 - Golden Palomino": Looks pure quarterhorse.
o "Morning Call" by Sporting Masters, designed by Jan Sorrells. This is
a picture of two adults (one gray one chestnut) and a foal (bay) with
their heads all together "greating" the rooster in the barn. It is a
cross stitch chart from an original painting. It has a partner piece
that I don't have called, "Evening Gathering" that is three adults (one
gray, one bay, one chestnut). They all look like thoroughbreds. Nice
work, but I like the cameos a little bit better. Both are complex to
work.
o "The Arab Tent" by Sporting Masters, designed by Jan Sorrells. This is
a gray Arabian mare and her bay foal lying down on an oriental carpet
in her Arab master's tent. Fairly complex work if you do the carpet and
tapestries in the tent. Nice work.
o "Leading Pumpkin From the Garden" by Sporting Masters, designed by Jan
Sorrells. I don't have this one but it is really cute. A little girl
leading a fat sorrel colored pony from a garden. Very complex with all
the color changes in the garden from what I remember. I've been kicking
myself ever since I didn't get this one, but I saw it about 8 or so years
ago when I had first started cross stitching and thought I'd never do
anything that complex. I'm going to see if I can still get this one.
Sporting Masters has some other prints out that I don't have (they are listed
on the back of my pamphlets, but they sounded more like English hunting scenes
and the like. Check them out if you are interested in patterns of that nature.
I would recommend any of their work. :-) I didn't see a booklet number on
any of these.
o "Horses" by Stephanie Seabrook Hedgepath, book #107. Pegasus Originals,
Inc. Nice work. This pamphlet contained patterns for:
Quarter horse (head shot only)
Quarter horse - with various color choices
American Saddle horse
Appaloosa - with various color choices
Arabian (head shot only) - bay only.
Arabian - gray only, but you could customize the colors by looking at
some of the other color variation charts for the other breeds.
Clydesdale
Lippizanner
Morgan
Paint (tobiano) - with various color choices
Shetland Pony
Tennessee Walking Horse
Thoroughbred (head shot only)
Thoroughbred
Good detail, realistic looking. I like her work a lot and would recommend
any of her patterns (She also does lots of dogs - I've seen the Collie for
whoever it was looking for one - AND she has Siberian Huskies! ;-) She
has several other horse patterns some of which I have and some I don't -
"Sporting Horses" I have. It has among others, a hunter going over a jump,
a western cutting horse, etc. "Horses Then and Now", I don't have, but it
lists as having an Arabian head.
o "Horse Collection" designs by Holly Martin, book #90036. Publisher -
Something Special by Candamar Designs, Inc. This pamphlet included designs
for:
American Saddlebred
Arabian
Clydesdale (nice work)
Morgan
Paint
Quarterhorse
Tennessee Walker
Thoroughbred
Her designs are rougher than Stephanie Hedgepath's. The Clydesdale was
very nice and realistic looking the others were a little choppy IMHO.
The Arab wasn't anywhere near as nice as SH's.
o "The Bridle Path", book #102 by Stoney Creek Collection. Very cute if
you like the Stoney Creek patterns (which I do :-). Very subtle color
changes, but not very realistic looking. Various different scenes -
a mare and foal in an apple orchard, a gray by a duck pond, a pinto by
the sea.
o "Painted Ponies" by True Colors, designed by Sharon Sutherland, #BCL-10027.
They are a take-off on the Beverly Doolittle designs of the horses in the
rocks (you have to look closely to see the horses because their markings
blend into the rocks behind them) but not with her skill or artistry.
Kinda rough, not that detailed, but OK. I bought the pattern because it
was horses. May or may not do it. IMHO it seems like a lot of work for
the end result.
I am almost done with this one! I am doing the entire picture. It is
complex, but is detailed and is turning out pretty nice. It is large,
especially the mare. There are two Salukis in the back of the tent that
you can just barely make out. This is the part that I have left. The
horses are the main focus of the picture with the text and the dogs being
secondary. I bought the pattern when I was in North Carolina (I'm
located in Minnesota) and I have never seen it anywhere else. It was
interesting to see it listed here.

Hi.
Julie, not an entire horse, but G. Ross of Ross Originals P.O. Box 67
Trinity Beach Queensland 4879 Australia sells a Palomino Head that is
quite realistic.

Hi Sue,
I really like that one but I haven't started it yet. I didn't even notice
the Salukis. I'll have to look at my pattern again! I guess I just
focused on the horses like they want you to! :-)!!! I love hidden pictures
within pictures. A friend of mine started one of the other Sporting
Master's pictures as a wedding present for my husband and me and she
liked it so much after it was done she kept it! :-( Oh well, I fixed
her little red wagon - I went out and bought the patterns and I'll make
my own! Half the fun is in the making anyway! ;-)!!!
