Sort of but not entirely OT: Folk art

My son leaves home next week to join the RAF and I can have his bedroom
(more like a shoebox really) to do my stitching in, but I want to decorate
it in a sort of Folk art style but I really don't know where to start or
what sort of colours should I paint the walls and what type of curtains to
put at the windows. I like those long, floopy eared rabbits and bears but
I would like to make a patchwork wall hanging in a folky sort of style and
stitch something in that style too. Anybody got any suggestions or can
anybody point me in the right direction?

Hi, Tia,
One designer house that I think of as very folksy without being childish
is Shepherd's Bush. Their style is very much English countryside /Folksy,
and is very, very addicting. (!!!)

You may like some of the quilting books by Debbie Mumm. Real folksy and
Cute. Also gives many projects using Wonder-Under. And has her own
line of fabrics to compliment the patterns. Her books are pretty easy

I love the primitive folk art styles of needlework! But my favorites are
the old sampler ones with the quaint little houses and animals.
Ewe and I and Friends is one company of xs charts I've recently
discovered with these type of motifs.

Try looking through the http://www. hoffmandis.com site and do a search
for folk art/country xs charts and similar words.
I know Alma Lynne Designs has many floppy eared rabbits in xs and cute
country motifs----she also has a line of fabrics with similar designs.
