Hi,

I was wondering if anybody have seen any Xstich patterns of
impresionist paintings. I am most interested in Renoir, but others might
be interesting too.

Any hints would be welcome.

The magazine, _Cross Stitch Sampler_ ran a really exquisite chart of
what I believe was a Renoir painting. It was rather small, was
accompanied by a charted saying of the artist below, worked with lots
of double-flossing to get the exquisite colour blends and really
blew me away. I think it was in either Summer 1994 or Fall 1994
(probably summer, because I haven't seen a new issue recently). I
believe it had some summer fruits on the cover. Hope this helps.

The chart you're talking about was in the _Cross_Stitch_Sampler_, Fall
1994, but it wasn't a Renoir -- it was a "needle painting" by the
designer, Janelle Giese, of a small French fishing village in the
impressionist style. (I, too, thought it was a MOnet or Renoir until I
looked closely enough to see which one it was.) It is absolutely
gorgeous -- uses tweeding, as you noted, and bronze blending filaments
in the lettering (which quotes Paul Cezanne). It's on my list of
projects for the future -- when I have time. :-)

I have on order a chart called "La Danse de la Ville", by Renoir, I believe.
It's published by ColorCharts.

Hope this helps.

I got a book titled Glorafilia by Carole Lazarus and Jennifer Berman which
is a collection of needlepoint projects based on The French Impressionists.
I don't know how difficult it would be to translate these to cross stitch
but since they're colored charts, I wouldn't think it would be too hard.

Hope this helps,

Liz

Jill might have been thinking of the same pattern as me. One of the major
cross-stitch magazines (unfortunately I can't tell you which one because
all my things are packed away in storage :( !) several months ago had a
chart of a famour Renoir painting - the one of the two girls at the piano.
Surely someone else can point us in the right direction!

Hi.

I have a pattern of Seurat's "La Grande Jatte" from
Color Charts. It's actually called "Sunday in the Park."
It's a pretty nice looking pattern and also kind of
challenging - which is what I like. =)

You might want to check on their Masterpiece series for
any other impressionistic patterns. Personally, I really
like most of patterns from Color Charts because they're
so easy to read.
