Well, it started out Margaret and I and DD were going to get together and do
something fun. And we were talking about it on Facebook (go ahead - boo).

Next thing you know - we have Evelyn Mann and Elizabeth Coughlan (aka Dr
Brat) joining us. The five of us had a riotous time at a Japanese
steakhouse, the kind where dinner prepare involves a show. Turns out Brat
and Evelyn where as much fun to watch as DD as the flames and knives danced.
The food was very good, the company even better. After dessert we checked
out the local Joanne's and the Hallmark store.

No stitching was done, but we did talk about stitching, husbands and
children, dogs and cats and everything else we love in our lives. DD and I
plan on trying to make Evelyn's game at Cyclones soon....

It was wonderful seeing you and you forgot to mention you brought your
lap quilt. It is lovely. The wind outside wasn't. It was a really bitter night
, but still lovely seeing all of you.

Never once have I used my last name on this group, for very specific
reasons. I really wish you hadn't done that.

I'm with you there. I have always been very careful to keep both my
last name and my face off the internet. Imagine my dismay when I found
that, after a local Arts Fair when someone asked me to model a
particularly silly hat from one of the booths, I discovered that another
board member had not only taken my picture, but put it on the
Association's website, with my full name underneath it!! Fortunately,
it is a pretty obscure site, and very few people other than members
would visit it, but you may be sure that, ever since then, I am very
careful to stay out of his way if he has a camera in his hands.

p.s., you will thus understand why I also stay away from Facebook,
Twitter etc.

I so wish the house had sold and I could be in NH now.

Hugs to all of you.

[snip] - thanks for "getting it" and explaining why you get it.

I'm on Facebook as myself, because my students use it to contact me.
I've tried very hard to be sure that no one there calls me Dr. Brat,
because I don't want students to find me in the places where I use
that name. There are things about me my students don't need to know.
I also tend to monitor the content of my Facebook page fairly
carefully and am not as verbally free as I would be if the context
were different.
