Just wanted to brag. My 8 year old daughter's art was chosen for an art
exhibition and we just got back. She won 1st place for K- 3 grade out of
all the elementary schools in our district. She was so excited as well as
myself! We got lots of pictures and are looking forward to scrappin' them!

Congrats!!!!!
You must be so proud!!!!!!

My daughter is just starting to play with crayons. When she is coloring,
she keeps switching hands - we are wondering if she's going to be a "righty"
or a "lefty"! I hope she follows my love for art! (she probably will for
I have my OWN box of crayolas!)

They did give her a gift certificate to an art supply store. We are going
to buy a few things also for her. She wants a portfolio and some oil
pastels.

For her last birthday we bought her some really nice artist brushes, paper,
and some acrylic paints. She loved them. She saw Bob Ross on PBS and just
fell in love with his work and she had to run up and tell me that she needed
a fan brush because Bob Ross had one and she didn't. I used to love
watching him on t.v as a kid, I don't know why but I could just listen to
him talk and paint.

cool.. I'm not a fan of Bob Ross myself.. reminds me of those sofa art
sweatshops in NYC where the asian ladies churn out 500 of the same or
similar paintings every day.. LOL... but thats me and my style is very
different from him... my hubby loves him tho.... I bought a bunch of
canvas's and paints off ebay, even managed to get a collapsible easel off
there for dirt cheap.... that was my "no more cancer treatments" present to
myself a while back.. LOL...

Just a suggestion for another place to try for supplies... Dick Blick
online... they've got some of the best prices I've been able to find,
even locally. (www.dickblick.com) and they've also got some great
papers and such for us scrappers too. I just love their selection of
Thai papers made of Kovo (Mulberry). I order from them all the time
and my dad (who's a painter) buys his acrylics and such there as well.
Anyway, thought I'd throw that out in case you've not been by...
