I finished another page today (boy, I must be on a roll! hehe) I'm not
quite sure I like the background paper though. Opinions? I tried it on
several different colors, and finally settled for this muted flowery pattern
but I really am not thrilled with it. (Okay, so I've just decided that I
really *hate* it!!) What do you all think I can use instead?

Thanks!

First let me say how good it is to see that smile on Liam's face!! A happy
boy!

I like the page. If you think you need to change it, my only suggestion
would be to maybe try a background more towards a greenish color. I think
the background is fine, though.

I agree with Cindy, the page is great and I love seeing that smile on Liam.
That paper doll looks just like you. Possibly try the darker green to match
his shirt. He looks so happy!!

Aww, I kinda like it! I especially like the way you did the overlapping mat
on the one picture and the pp is adorable. What don't you like about it?
Maybe you could use the colors from his shirt and/or striped paper to
match.. but it wouldn't be "cute" like it is now.

Ok - I must say "really hate it" seems way too harsh. It is hard for me to
say anything negative about it - I just don't feel right criticizing
others' work when I feel like such a beginner, but you asked.

It is a lovely page, but I can see how it isn't leaping out at you as your
best work ever. I think the theme of the page is about a boy and the paper
is just too feminine. While green isn't feminine by itself, the flowers and
the soft tones are a little feminine. Maybe it needs something totally
different - something bright and/or masculine. The little cutie-pie is
wearing dark stripes - maybe you could pick up on that? The dolls and the
title card are just great (I assume the journaling is just on another
page?). Another possibility - Because the pictures are so similar, you
could get the fabulous picture of him laughing (bottom left) enlarged as the
focal point. His expression is just priceless. Looking at the pictures must
just make you smile and feel happy all over again.

Hope that helps. Just my 2 cents worth.

I like your page. The background color goes great with your son's shirt. If
you don't like the daisy print you could change to little trucks or
something made for a little boy. Is it the flowers you don't like, or the
colors? Connie

though. What a sweetie he is!

Cute pictures, Alisha! I see what you mean about the paper. It's tough to
tell colors in a scan, but it looks like Liam is wearing a true green, and
the paper is more of a grey green. If you can't find a green that works,
would navy make the page too dark? (that is a navy stripe in his outfit, not
black, right?) Or maybe using the gold? I love the idea of enlarging the
picture in the lower left, it is such a wonderful shot of him.

Thanks, Hannah (and everyone else!) Actually, it's because I have 2 older
kids that my house is clean. I make them put their stuff away when they're
done (or at the end of the day whichever I'm feeling at the time). Now, I
just need to find time to dust ...

Alisha, I like the one w/ pastel background best. I love your paperdoll
and like the title centered. Well you did ask for an oppinion, I'm just
giving you mine. :-} The pics are great.

Thanks, Katrina. I think I'd like the pastel one better if the greens
matched better ... but I now like my revised better :) Thanks for your
opinion, though, I value it!

Alisha I agree with Cindy, perhaps a dark green. And what a super treat
seeing that big smile on Liam's face!

I agree - I think he has his screaming out of his system
and is going to be a charmer with that smile. At that
age - don't you just want to capture every little thing
they do. I used to put the video camera on a tripod
and record me playing with him. I'll have 30 minutes of
me and him doing the simplest, silliest things that would
bore anyone else to watch.
