Does anyone out there use the water-color pencils? Still kind of a novice,
I was thinking of purchasing a set, but after talking to some other
stampers, some of them like them some don't. I like to get more opinions.

I love the water color pencils!!! I use them with my scenery stamps
mainly and I'm so glad I invested in them. My kids even enjoy using them
(they are 9 and 11) on some of the stuff they rubber stamp. I enjoy water
colors but with the stamping it's hard to use them so I'm glad they have
pencils now.
It really depends on your preference really.

I do, Anne, and I love them! I bought the 60-pencil set of Staedtler's
Karat Aquarelle Watercolour Pencils. They give a nice, soft look to
your work, and you can blend them with a slightly wet paint brush or
Dove blender (I haven't used the Dove blender). They were $54.00, but
well worth the investment. I bought them at a local rubberstamping
store.

Windsor Newton, the water color paint manufacturer, makes a line of
water color pencils which I've heard great things about but not used.
Their paints are considered to be one of the better brands, so hopefully
they're as fussy about their pencil quality.

Anne: I purchased a 12 watercolor pencil set by Crayola (apprx $5)
and tried them out.....Loved them but wanted more colors and artist
quality....I bought Derwent Watercolor Pencils (36) and paid under
$30 on sale at Michael's (Aaron Bros. had the same set for about the
same price not on sale). I love working with them and often combine
them with regular color pencils in the same drawing (you can accent
with the regular pencils and blend with water on the watercolor
pencils). I hope that you get some......Lots of fun..........Jo

I believe this was posted before. . . I am in love with watercolor
pencils. They are good for blending where markers won't, and they now
have classes at some local rubber stamp stores for getting some
technique. What I don't understand is, now Crayola makes a small set
for $1.99 and my Staedtler set was about $10.00. . . with such a small
investment, (less than the cost of a stamp) what's stopping you? Even I
can afford that. You don't have to start with real expensive stuff.
Granted, some craft projects, if you don't use really good materials,
you don't get really good results, but this is NOT one of them. As they
say on T.V.: Just DO IT.
