I just purchased some great watercolor pencils for coloring in my stamps. I
really like the look but am having a small problem. I have been using
"permanent" black ink to stamp the image letting it dry thoroughly, coloring
and that almost dry brushing the color. The problem is the black ink
sometimes bleeds ruining the effect. Does anyone know if "pigment" ink
would be better? I should I emboss instead?

Thanks for any help....

What is the brand of the "permanent" ink you are using? What type of paper?
Some papers do take longer for even dye inks to dry.

I never have ANY problems with my Memories pads.

I have several black inks and ran my own little test...stamped an image and
then spritzed with water. I used watercolor black (couple of brands),
waterproof black, permanent, pigment and dye inks. Memories held well but
Archival Jet Black was the best, in my opinion. It stayed the 'blackest'
and didn't run at all. Memories didn't either, just wasn't as black. Hope
that helps...Elinor

Really? My Memories is, and stays, really black.

Are there multiple versions of Memories? I always here people saying how
wonderful and waterproof and strong Memories is, and I HATE mine! It's not
even a little bit waterproof, and it dries to more of a charcoal grey than
black. Is there Memories, and then PERMANENT Memories?

TIA,
Alison

I love my Memories too (not the temporary 'improved' they had for a while -
can't remember how they marked it to tell the difference) and it is nice and
black. But I _was_ surprised at the difference in the Archival Jet
Black...Elinor

Memories came out with a new and improved version of their pads... and have now
reverted back to the old formula again as too many people were complaining that
the new ones weren't permanent with watercolours etc. I'd take it back to the
store you bought it from, or contact Stewart Superior about the problem

AHA! If I remember correctly, mine does, indeed, have some little
"improved" star. I'll check when I get home and will contact the
manufacturer as you suggest. (Haven't a clue where I bought it.)

Thanks so much for the tip!

I use ancient page and have never had it run on me. The great thing is that
you can use the other colors of ancient page, not just black, to stamp with
and they will not run either! :)
