What's everyone been stamping lately?

I FINALLY got my stamping area moved to a place that is out of the way
(meaning, I can leave all my stuff all over the table and not worrying about
what my house looks like if company shows up unexpectedly! LOL) and a spot
that is very comfortable. I actually got about 10 cards made last night!
Also, I finally got to play with my new leaves! Lots of fun!

What is everyone else stamping?

Hi Wendy
I have ben stamping in rubber shelf liner, it is really easy to do and
the results are amazing! Plus I have been Stamping on CD pieces and
using them for card embellishments.
I love Leaves stamps too:-))

I've been stamping a lot of leaves too - that is Wishy's fault but
that's another story....
But every time I sit down to stamp I start playing with my new Versamark
pad - I just can't put it down! I want to se what effect it has on every
piece of paper and card in my collection. So at present I have loads of
backgrounds and hardly any finished work!

I haven't been stamping but buying!

What the heck can I do with double-sided paper? Each side has it's own unique
pattern. No, I don't know how to teabag fold but I do want to show off that
it's double-sided.

Ideas?

thanks

Have you ever done a lattice edge?

you fold the paper in half, then cut 1/2" snips along the fold, then fold
every other one down , so if you paper was red and white, you'd see one red,
one white, and so on.

I have been stamping and folding origami shirts to make pins and magnets. They
were very popular at the Newbury stamp show yesterday so I am looking into the
possibility of teaching a class at my local stamp shop in Eastbourne (very
excited about this) now I have to work out how to fold ties for them.

A Versamark pad is a new pad that looks like a clear embossing pad, but
the ink reacts with the paper or card you stamp on to give a watermark
effect - it seems to be different on every weight and colour of paper.
Sometimes it is delicate, sometimes bold.
On glossy card the effect doesn't happen, but if you leave it to dry
then brayer over it with coloured ink the design shows through in white
- I've had a lot more success doing resist this way than with an
embossing pad.
It is made by Tsukineko so you should be able to get it where you get
Encore pads.

I haven't tried it on glass, just glossy card - it is after all a
rubberstamping tool - but now you've suggested it I might give it a try.
It might not dry too well though. Perhaps heat-resistant acetate, so I
could give it a blast with the heat gun.

I've been using stamping techniques--no rubber stamps lately. However, I
do use a stamp indicating that the card was handmade.

I've been playing with layering, collage, etc. I had been told that one
shouldn't re-ink (embossing) between layers of UT because the embossing
ink would come to the surface. Sure enough, the next morning it did! I
put more UT on it and some other powders. The problem went away. I've
also used letters from the Dover series of books. On some I've used the
Wet Look embossing pens and embossing powder to raise parts of the
letters. On other I color in with either Pentel color pen-fine point,
gel pens, watercolor, or color pencils. Some items will run after
spraying glitter over the piece. After spraying glitter I then spray
reworkable fixative. The letter is then cutout and mounted on fun foam
to be adhered to embellished card stock. Loads of fun!

Resistance is futile.

Especially with all the really beautiful papers available now. Here's a
question - how do you store rolls of paper so they don't get ruined?

I just got one of the versamark pads that is clear...it stamps the color of
your paper...

for example....if you are stamping on a burgundy stock and use the versamark
ink using say a heart stamp and stamp it onto the burgundy paper...you will
have a burgundy colored heart on the paper a shade or two darker than the
paper...it is WAYYYYYYYYY cool!!! the ideas are endless :)

The Versamark pad is a bit different than other pads. They do take a
while to dry even on uncoated stock, which is what they were intended
for. I haven't experimented with them on vellum but sounds interesting.
You need to do good job cleaning the stamp after use or it will get
gummy. Also the color of your paper will affect the finshed item, light
colors give lighter images. There is an example of the finished look at
my site using a med taupe stock.
