Thanks to a few emails that I received, I have decided to stay with the
newsgroup. You really are a friendly group of people and very helpful.
:o)

I would like to try to clarify something though. I know I said some of it
in a previous posting, but perhaps a little addition to it is in order. I
do understand that you, as potters, have a lot of competion in your field
and it's difficult. I am an, as yet, unpublished writer of poetry and
short stories... so I know how difficult it is trying to compete with
others.

I really wasn't trying to compete with anyone on this newsgroup, in fact I
admire all of your artistic abilities. I was only trying to find a way to
express my own artistic feelings by painting on a few plain things (ceramic
tiles, terracotta flower pots, etc) that are mass produced a factory. I
wouldn't think of painting over an item that a single potter had created...
that would be like someone flowering up all my written work to sell as
their own.

The main things I would be doing are: Painting designs on plain ceramic
tiles to sell as hot-plates or wall hangings, painting designs on those
teeny little flower pots that you can buy for a few cents at craft stores,
and painting comical cartoonish things on the bigger flower pots that you
can buy in the same craft stores for a few cents more. Of course I would
sell them for more than I would pay for them... paint, my time, etc... to
people who like them and wouldn't be bothered trying to paint them
themselves, or don't believe they can do it.

I am hoping to sell some of these things (along with other things I have
made... knitting, etc) on a website and from my home to make a little extra
money. You see, I have been caring for my mother who is
wheelchair bound due to two strokes for a lot of years now and needs 24
hour supervision, and I cannot work outside of our home. I'm tired of
surviving off Social Assistance (ie Mother's Allowance) and hate having
nothing to be proud of. I'm not looking for sympathy... I'm simply tired
of it and want to try to find some way of earning enough money from working
at home to try to get off Social Assistance once and for all, if it's at
all possible.

As I said earlier... I am an, as yet, unpublished writer of poetry and
short stories which I don't want to put on the internet as I've heard that
publishers won't even look at your work if you have it on the internet. I
do have a list of publishers for poetry and for fiction now, so I am
hopeful that when I send out some of my writing it will be accepted by one
of the publishers. So, I really do understand about the struggles of
trying to make a living at pottery, or whatever else you do.

Someone thought I was leaving the newsgroup angry, this isn't so. It was
actually more because I was hurt that someone thought I was trying to cheat
people into believing that the pots were my own creations. I would merely
be selling the designs painted on the mass produced factory flower pots and
ceramic tiles, like Biku said... not the pots themselves. :o)

PS. While I was out to the store today, I quickly stopped into the paint
and flooring store in my town to ask if they sell one or two ceramic tiles
rather than a whole box of them. They do when there are some left over
after a tile laying job... very cheap too, I might add. :o) So I picked
up a couple of them just to see what I could do with them. Now to get the
proper paints... I only have multi-use acrylic paints at the moment. The
tiles are the cream colored glossy wall tiles, by the way.
