*L* At this point...I think I've faux finished everything and anything. I'm
eyeing the cat next. (joke, people...just a joke...)

Okay. Depends on what you do with it, I suppose, but there's nothing about a
metal filing cabinet in and of itself that makes it any more difficult than
anything else.

Nah, not worth it. Youre the only person going to see the insides, and they'll
be filled with files anyway. Besides, getting in there with a brush has got to
be a pain.

If you don't want it to look fake, Id suggest practicing first on some scrap wood
or metal first, and getting your hands on some books to help you.

I've found The Encyclopedia of Decoative Painting Techniques by Simon Cavelle to
be helpful in this area. But for sure you want to get down to a bookstore(not a
library, you want to have a book around you can get paint on, because it *will*
happen...) and look at all the books they have there on Decorative Arts and see
which ones will suit you best. Over the years I have developed quite a
collection, and they always come in handy.

Good Luck!

Hello,

I'm trying to finish decorating my office, and the only stubling blocks that
I've encountered are my filing cabinets. I have a WONDERFUL desk and book
holder that my husband made of Oak, but my computer screen, computer, and
filing cabinets are made of the grey/taupe putty.

Has anyone done faux finishing on metal cabinets? How has it turned out? Do
you also do it on the inside of the cabinets? I was thnkingof a wood graining

pattern, but I don't want it to look fake.

Thanks for the help.

Why not try to do some sponging on it? You could add some pattern to
it. There is a product called "white lightening" that you add to the
paint so that it will stick to metal..it's also good for painting on
candles.

Have fun...
