Step 1- make sure the glass is clean.
Step 2- Use one of the many products out there that is meant to be
painted on glass-- Liquitex Glossies, Pebeo Porcelaine 150, Deka makes
one too... most of these are put into the oven when they are dry. It
makes a world of difference. (just make sure that you buy a paint that
is made for this process-- do not just put acrylics in the oven)
You should have more success then.

I was very happy with the PermEnamel paints. I wasn't painting
anything that would be eaten off of, or needed to be put into the
dishwasher, but the PermEnamels are good for say, the outside of a
teapot, or the bottom of a glass serving plate. I can wash the items
by hand and the paint doesn't come off. No baking involved, but I did
have to prep before painting and apply a clear coat of finish. They
have special stuff for the prep coat, and the finish stuff comes in
both matte and glossy.

Sonja what kind of paint did you use? There is special paint for glass, find
any gallery glass products in your craft store and start there. Or if you
have a craft store like Ben Franklin, Hobby Lobby and so forth go and ask a
clerk and they should point you in the right direction.
