posting-gay-marriage-stance-on-facebook-59206/

A housing manager in Manchester, England, was demoted by the
organization he works for after sharing his beliefs against gay
marriage in a post on his personal Facebook page.

Adrian Smith, a 54-year-old Christian man, is now suing the
Trafford Housing Trust, saying his free speech rights have been
violated and the punishment was inappropriate, according to
Daily Mail. Following a disciplinary hearing, Smith was demoted
from his position as a housing manager and his salary was
reduced from £35,000 (about $60,000 USD) per year to £21,000
(about $34,000 USD).

The controversy began in February when Smith posted to his
Facebook page the link to a BBC article, “Gay church marriages
get go-ahead.” The article addresses a proposal that could
result in a ban being lifted which has previously prevented
civil partnership ceremonies from being performed in religious
settings in England and Wales. In addition to posting the link
Smith also wrote, “An equality too far.”

One of his colleagues from Trafford Housing, a not for profit
housing association, commented on the post and asked, “Does this
mean you don't approve?”

“No, not really,” Smith replied. “I don't understand why people
who have no faith and don't believe in Christ would want to get
hitched in church. The Bible is quite specific that marriage is
for men and women.”

He also said that the state can choose to allow same civil
unions if it wants to, but it “shouldn't impose its rules on
places of faith and conscience.”

Only Smith's friends on Facebook could view the post initially –
his profile was not made available for public view – but
unfortunately some of his coworkers, who were also his Facebook
friends, saw his comments and complained. He was later forced to
take it down following backlash from the association.

On Sunday, Trafford Housing released a statement clarifying
their reason for taking disciplinary action against Smith. In
2010, the association updated its code of conduct and
distributed it to all 360 members of its staff. Included in the
code were guidelines, the statement says, that “set out what use
employees can make of social networking sites such as Facebook.”

Smith's Facebook page clearly identified him as a manager for
the association, and, following an investigation, his comments
were found to be in violation of company code.

“Mr. Smith was disciplined for his breach of company policy,”
the statement says. “The Trust made no comment about any
personal beliefs that he holds.” The association later states
that the company will “vigorously defend its position” when it
meets with Smith in court.

But Daily Mail reports that Smith's lawyers think that he has
been treated unfairly, and will fight for damages in the amount
of the pay Smith has lost.

“When Adrian was told that he was being demoted with a 40
percent cut in salary, he was stunned,” his attorneys said.
“Nothing he said was offensive or abusive. His comments were
calm, measured and reasonable ... Even those who disagree with
his opinions will surely agree that he has been treated badly.”

Smith has also received the support of The Christian Institute,
an organization that exists to further and promote Christianity
in the United Kingdom. Mike Judge, head of communications for
the institute, says Smith's comments didn't warrant the
punishment he was given.

“Employers have a responsibility to protect the rights of their
staff – and that includes their Christian staff,” Judge said.
“One set of rights should not trump another. It looks to me like
there has been some sort of witch hunt against Mr Smith simply
because of his Christian views.”

Britons don't have free speech rights. He should be glad he was just demoted and not prosecuted
for expressing his opinion. Now he better shut up and eat his meat or he can't have any pudding.

Then of course you are not a Christian.

One could not be a successful Leftwinger without realizing that,
in contrast to the popular conception supported by newspapers
and mothers of Leftwingers, a goodly number of Leftwingers are
not only narrow-minded and dull, but also just stupid.

Your IGNORANCE is duly noted. Not only am I a Christian,

PSEUDO-Christians of the hateful RRR Cult) are sensible and
fair-minded egalitarians.

Did your Buddhism teach you yo be a LIAR?

I don't recall that's being one of that religion's tenets.

That might be true of those specious and fictitious "Leftwingers,"
you believe in (along with the Tooth Fairy??), but NOT of sensible
and intelligent egalitarians,

So you're a member of a cult that is based on interpreting one verse of
scripture in contradiction to the rest of the scripture, nothing new here,
most cults make the same mistake.

Did you realize that the same Paul that wrote 1 Corinthians 5 also wrote
Romans? So do the ignortartians also agree with Paul when he wrote:
Romans 1:
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to
sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They
exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created
things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women
exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way
the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with
lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and
received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the
knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do
what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of
wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder,
strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters,
insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they
disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love,
no mercy. 32 Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do
such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things
but also approve of those who practice them.

You see, you are not a Christian, you are nothing like a Christian, just a
cult that interprets a single verse to fit your beliefs. If you want to
believe a lie, you are free to do so but don't try to twist the Bible to fit
your misguided belief system. The RRR may also be misguided, but no more
that the one who wrote the stupidity you provided the link to.

Wrong. I belong to NO cult. Mine is a mainstream denomination,
the Reformed Church in America. Of which Norman Vincent Peale
(author of "The Power of Positive Thinking") and my father both were
ministers... and in which Robert Schuller (founder of the Crystal Cathe-
dral in Garden Grove, California) IS still a minister.

As far as the Bible is concerned, it has DOZENS of irreconcilable
contradictions, and thus can only be *partially* Divinely-inspired:

Verses 24-27 could easily have INCLUDED some personal bigotry on
the part of Paul, when it comes to sex. Verses 28-42 deal with SERIOUS
problems, so may have been inspired. That "deserved death" part in
Verse 32 is more in line with the way God had dealt with people in a prev-
ious dispensation (in the OT), and not in the compassionate way that
Jesus did, so it is questionable to some extent.

> You see, you are not a Christian.

Wrong. And I also happen to be a relatively intelligent and sensible
one... unlike the PSEUDO-Christian leaders of the RRR Cult, and the
low-intellect cash-cow lemmings that they have managed to CON with
their LYING propaganda and hate-agendas.

<untrue idiocy flushed>.

> The RRR may also be misguided...

That's putting it MILDLY. It's as "misguided" as the segregationists
were.

You're preaching to the choir. I went to college in Mexico City, and
have travelled extensively throughout Latin America... in Central and
South America, and in the Caribbean -- and have for decades DEPLORED
the churches there in which MUCH of the interiors are gilded in gold leaf,
while impoverished people LITERALLY live next door to them!

Robert Schuller has an EGO the size of the planet Jupiter!

I don't agree with the church's having wasted millions on that edifice,
when it could FAR better have been used to help those iin need. I just
mentioned it so that people would know what denomination I was
referring to. Amazingly, you NEVER hear or see any reference in the
"Hour of Power" broadcasts to that congregation's own denomination!

Being a mainstream religion doesn't make it correct. In Jesus' lifetime it
was the mainstream religion that fought against him.

As far as the Bible is concerned, it has DOZENS of irreconcilable
contradictions, and thus can only be *partially* Divinely-inspired:

The Bible is more like a 10,000 piece puzzle. You see irreconcilable
contradictions because your group hasn't been able to put together but a few
pieces. I have seen many other denominations with much more of the puzzle
put together, one denomination has one area put together well, another has a
different area figured out, and so on. The parts that the Egalitarians know
doesn't have to be understood as contradictory to the other parts.

We don't even have to go as far as Romans to prove the egalitarians have
misinterpreted 1 Corinthians 5, just go to the next chapter...
1 Corinthians 6:
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do
not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers
nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards
nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is
what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Maybe, but can you see that you are picking a choosing what parts to believe
and what not to? And this is based on??? Political correctness? What you
consider to be bigotry?

<untrue idiocy flushed>.

> The RRR may also be misguided...

That's putting it MILDLY. It's as "misguided" as the segregationists
were.

Here's a teaching of Jesus that you need to understand.
Mark 8:
14 The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had
with them in the boat. 15 "Be careful," Jesus warned them. "Watch out for
the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod."

16 They discussed this with one another and said, "It is because we have no
bread."

17 Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about
having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts
hardened? 18 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear?
And don't you remember? 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five
thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?"

"Twelve," they replied.

20 "And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many
basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?"

They answered, "Seven."

21 He said to them, "Do you still not understand?"

The "yeast" of the Pharisees was their teaching. Yeast makes bread better.
The Pharisees were teaching their own religion, they had taken things out of
the scripture that they didn't like, they made it "taste better". So if
homosexuality is a sin according to scripture, then you can't just pick and
choose what you want to believe because it tastes better to you.

Your website link condemns judging others but if seems to do an awful lot of
judging others.

If you want to learn where more of the pieces of the puzzle fit together I
think you would be amazed. There is a Bible teaching program that goes
through the entire Bible, you can find a radio station that broadcasts it or
listen free online, or download for free. You'll get many of the
"irreconcilable contradictions" reconciled.

No. The irreconcilable contradictions are irreconcilable because
they ARE mutually-exclusive. They are REAL contradictions. Google
them and see for yourself. LOTS of good sites present them.

One doesn't have to be an egalitarian to recognize outright contra-
dictions when he sees them. Just an IQ over 80 will usually suffice.

Same for shrimp, lobster, other shellfish, and clothing made of
mixed fabrics? How about seances and mediums? Ouija Boards and
Tarot Cards? Tea-leaf readers and other fortune-tellers? And going to
same for consultations? Astrology and horoscopes? ALL of which would
be (and in some cases directly were, by virtue of already existing back
then) condemned at LEAST as much as homosexual sex was.

If the HYPOCRITES of the RRR Cult ever seek to deprive the
BILLIONS (worldwide) of people of their rights and well-being on the
BASIS of *those* prohibited actions, then I will at least give them
credit for no longer being hypocrites. Even though they would still
be crazier than barn owls and totally-obnoxious and bigoted fools.

I've seen many claimed contradictions but no real ones of anything
significant.

But with any IQ they can understand the apparent contradictions, haven't you
heard God choose the foolish things to confound the wise? You think you are
wise but you can't understand the Bible as well as the average child.

Does people doing these things mean they are not sins? Or perhaps since
Jesus told Peter to forgive , not 7 times, but 7 times 70, maybe Jesus is
also willing to keep forgiving us if we continue to want to be forgiven.
Something about "faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from
all unrighteousness".

I wonder if that would work with my boss? I could ignore any orders from my
boss that I don't like and tell him since I know he is a nice boss that he
didn't really mean for me to do those things I would rather not. Pretty
good religion you have there, don't like something, don't bother to conform
to God's will, just create your own God the way you would like for him to
be.

"Take and eat" is part of the new covenant, Indulging in homosexuality and
other sins are still condemned in the new covenant.

So Egalitarian Hypocrites are OK?

>> Your website link condemns judging others but if seems to do an

Let's see, according to the New Covenant, looking at a woman with lust is a
sin, fornication is a sin, adultery is a sin, pretty much any sexual
activity is a sin except with one's own spouse. But you claim Homosexuality
isn't a sin, looks like you are the Bigot here.

Did your father share your Egalitarian beliefs?

I think it would take 60 years to get that far off course, you need to get
headed in the right direction. You can't just edit the Bible to say
anything you want it to, and claim anything else wasn't inspired.

So how is the verses the condemn homosexuality an irreconcilable
contradiction? Where does the Bible plainly say Homosexuality is
acceptable?

And you praise Dr Tiller the Baby Killer? Are you against capitol
punishment too? Talk about irreconcilable differences, real Christians what
to punish the wicked and protect the innocent, some others want to protect
the wicked and punish the innocent.

In my half-century of opposing bigots and their hate-agendas, I've
found that bigotry is SO ingrained in them, they never repudiate it. Thus,
if I ever found one in my employ. he/she would get the gate as fast as they
could clean out their desk and hit the bricks!!

I listed a **LOT** more things above, that homophobic bigots IGNORE,
than just food. Most of which still ARE prohibited. INTERESTING that you
**ignored** all of those... ???

So the RRR Cultists are HYPOCRITES.

PROVE that any egalitarian is a hypocrite. LOTSA LUCK!

(However, there are some *irrational* ones out and about. Such
as ones who sensibly defend abortion rights, but then are STUPID enough
to oppose the death penalty in cases where guilt has been indisputably
PROVEN.

(1) NOTHING in the Bible says that the sexual OTIENTATION of
homosexuality is sinful. Only various sexual ACTIONS (both
gay and straight) are regarded as sinful.

(2) In the next life, I'd REALLY like to ask God just WHY he had
this huge HANGUP with something as enjoyable as sex.

I probably LEARNED to be an egalitarian at a very young age as a

ONLY if there is any possibility of innocence. When a killer has
been convicted on totally incontrovertible proof, I favor executing the
S.O.B. ASAP. That's simply taking out the trash. It's the fate that
Jeffrey Dahmer SHOULD have been sentenced to -- but fortunately,
his fellow inmates felt the same way!

I can't speak for others, but you can see that *I* want ONLY the
guilty to be punished. Such as Dahmer, and all murderers of abortion
doctors.

Response to an RCC-Cult ANTI-Choicer,
about the Martyred HERO, Dr. George Tiller

You know nothing of Dr. Tiller and his work, because you ignore the
facts. Dr. Tiller proved, in court, on more than one occasion, this his
work fully conformed to the laws of Kansas, a very conservative state.
Even when women begin to die, suffer sterility, maiming from the lack of
a late term abortion, or giving birth to grossly deformed babies, you'll
still ignore the facts. By the way, you and your "church" will protest
paying one cent of tax to care for the injured or dead women, or for the
costs of caring for a grossly deformed or handicapped baby during its
short lifetime. You'd rather the family be ruined to the point where
they're in poverty. And, you'll still refuse to pay any welfare costs
or costs of restoring the ruined family. That's the kind of person you
are, and the kind of people your "church" is.

Dr. Tiller was an actual Saint.

I downloaded and installed, seems it's only a 30 day trial and then they
want $29 for it. I think I'll keep using my Windows Live and let you
correct my attributes :-)

Well, it looks like 90% of them are misunderstandings by the person that
wrote the stuff, I guess he isn't in the IQ greater than 80 club. For
example he thinks it's a contradiction that Elijah went to Heaven but Jesus
was the only one to ascend to Heaven. A person in that day would describe
an aircraft taking off as ascending into the heavens. The old Testament
saints, Elijah included, went to a place know as Abraham's Bosom, also
called Paradise, but not Heaven where Jesus ascended to.

But instead of argue the point, out of the 120+ "contradictions" on the
website, pick out any that changes Homosexuality behavior to not be
considered a sin. All of the "contradictions" I read didn't amount to
anything one way or another. If Paul went here first or there first, it
doesn't make a bit of difference in anything Paul taught.

The entire website you provided a link to is all about someone that
obviously doesn't know what they are talking about, they would probably have
difficulty understanding the conversation in an old lady's quilting group.
7 X 70 is what he told Peter, that doesn't mean he is limited to forgiving
490 times.

I think you better check your facts, it looks more like you are one of those
professing yourself to be wise that God is making a fool of.

Yes, there are many bigots. Homosexuals should not be picked on as many do.
You can find a "Christian" that is perfectly willing to listen to a song
about adultery but if there was a homosexual song they would refuse to
listen to it because it's disgusting.

In instances where Jesus was confronted by the law he interpreted the law by
the spirit of the law, not the letter of the law. Many of the things you
mentioned had a spiritual meaning, listen to McGee and learn about it.

Right, it's not a sin to be tempted.

Is there such a thing as sexual perversion? Like a man really wants to
stick his penis in another mans butt, and God is so cruel because God wants
him to stick it in a woman, what punishment!

That's right, if a man has lust for man butt should he just go with it?
What about if a man has lust for children, are you a hypocrite if you say
child molestation is wrong? What if a man has a lust to rape, is that OK
too?

The RRR is the hate filled ones, right?

Their "FREE Agent" program used to be PERMANENTLY free.
So they must have gotten CHINTZY and GREEDY!!

I used if for several years, and then upgraded to a paid
version a few years ago to take advantage of the extra bells
and whistles.

You have nothing to lose by trying it for FREE for a month,
so you can see for yourself ho excellent it is.

There are a lot of free news clients. Thunderbird & Xnews are OK. I
don't know what OS you're using, but I still use the old Netscape 4.78
for newsgroups with XP.
