of money in four to seven years unless Congress intervenes.

fraud when thier unemployment insurance runs out.

To be sure the FRB can monetize the debt so no one loses
even a single *PAPER* dollar, ala Weimar, but unless/until
the IRS code is significantly revised, corporate influence
drastically curbed, and stringent expenditure/personnal caps
at all levels of government enacted/enforced, SSDI
bankruptcy will be the least of the worries/problems.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation_in_the_Weimar_Republic
Even with stringent expenditure/personnal caps, revision of
the IRS code, and other Draconian measures such as
Congressional refusal to increase the national debt limit,
severe dislocations and stresses are sure to occur, but less
than will occur if the current processes are allowed to run
to completion/exhaustion, and some form of recovery [but
things will never again be as they were] is sure to be much
more rapid, i.e. compare/contrast Ireland and Iceland.

Perhaps, and that is all the more reason to make getting good jobs easier as
opposed to making things like food stamps or rent subsidies more difficult.
You could eliminate subsidies and transfer payments altogether with the
stroke of a pen and not create prosperity for even a single individual.
Just the opposite.

Yeah, people just love being disabled...
They are quitting their jobs, losing their houses & cars, and having their
families fractured so that they can enjoy the privilege of shopping with
food stamps and having to beg for gas money only to have their driver
license revolved for driving to the the welfare office without valid auto
insurance.......having to sleep in their mothers garage, to idly spend their
free time shivering at the freeway on-amp begging for a hand-out in freezing
weather...
Yup--it's great fun enduring constant pain from rotten teeth and having to
collect aluminum cans and walk 4 miles to the metal recyclers in order to
buy a used tire for a 30 year old beat up oil burning gas guzzler so that
you can get to the the home depot and beg for under-the-table work as a
casual laborer ...or to not be able to read because your eyeglasses broke
and you can't afford a new pair of glasses.
Damn straight--It's the new American Dream....and people are lining up for
it, taking numbers..
That is astounding, have you been through that?
I have. Even had to move cause the cop knew I needed the glasses. & I
had a job.

...and companies.
They are called "tax cuts".
And Republicans LOVE them.

I agree.
I know a number of people looking for a job..trying to find what is
out there is a disaster.
There is no reason today why there shouldn't be a national job
register where one could search for available jobs.
And any employer listing a job that did not really exist would be
fined.

It's the Republican Wet Dream for America.
Notice the Republicans haven't done a damn thing to encourage job
creation...but they have plenty of time to waste on Religious Right

In the last six months i have had about eight phone calls of people
"looking " for a job. In reality they just wanted a name for their
unemployment office so they could continue getting benefits. What
pisses me off most is that one guy said that he paid in to UC and he
deserved the money back. I as an employer pay in except for maybe a
.0006 percent contribution by the employee, which amounts to about 25
bucks a year. Did you ever watch who parks in the handicapped parking
places. Most of them are a bunch of fakers just like a lot of the
people on the government dole, and the ones that really need the help
don't get it.
John
Since it looked like as much or more work to get an extension at the end
of my 6 months of U/C checks , I started a handyman business . Not doing so
well , as everyone else is as broke as I am , but I'm tryin' . And my wife
absolutely LOVES comin' home from work to the aroma of dinner on the stove
(or grill ...) .
Now that the weather has warmed up some , I'm getting more calls , but
it's still pretty slim pickin's . Looks like I'll have plenty of time for he
garden again this year...

Lettuce is
up already !
Almost everyone I have ever hired has been a walk in or by reference
from someone I know. I have a bunch of projects sitting, waiting to get
done but I don't have the time to micro supervise someone that can't
think on his own two feet. I hired one person about two months ago
who was out of work. Very good person with good work ethics. He is that
good that I gave him a big raise beginning next month. I don't want to
loose a good worker.
If I were looking for handyman work I would try the smaller commercial
businesses.
John
IMHO, anyone parking in a handicapped place who is in fact not so
entitled should be offered two alternatives - forefit the car, or suffer
an injury that would allow parking in the place.
I'm hooked up with a property mgmt co. and a couple of hardware stores .
This time of year has always been kinda rough for small business
repair/handyman types in this area .

It's not easy to save money, that's why the average net worth is less then

Put a cutoff on the tax say tax any transaction over a million or
combined transactions of five million. Bring back the short term
capital gain tax on commodities and stock trades. Make to oil
speculation pay a little tax money.
John
put a time rated capital gains tax - for assets held less than a day,
95%, for assets held over a decade, 5% - that will change wall street's
outlook from the next quarter to about 5 to 7 years out and do wonders
for our econonomy
Go to www.vrbo.com It is a vacation rental system that we list our houses
with. Contact people in your area directly about doing on call repairs for
them. I have always thought that would be a good gig. We have a couple
that live on site that we're very pleased with. Before getting them, it was
Russian roulette getting a good repair person.
And don't come whining if you get busier than you want to be. They are
always looking for a dependable reliable affordable sober repair guy.
Yer welcome.
Thanks Steve !

Who said I
was sober ?
Well, now that I have opened this can of worms, and not in alt.home.repair,
let me give you a couple of tips. You will be dealing with the owners most
of the time, not the management company. Try to keep it on a cash basis
with quick pay, lest the management company types string you out for 90
days. Next, remember that some of these people are cheap Charlies that want
a lot of work for a little money. And among these owners, there is a small
core of people who just want a reliable person, and are willing to
compensate them at a competitive price for work done ASAP, which is when
most work of that type needs done. You may have small windows of
opportunity to do the work, as the houses are booked, and you may only have
a few days between occupancies to get r' done, so if you need to hire a sub
or a crew, be sure to make that deadline, or they won't use you again. Be
sure to be in compliance with state and local laws, but in most places, a
hourly handyman license and requirements are far less than a contractor.
Find you some good contractors who will give you a vig if you bring them a
big job, as a roof, or a pool replaster, etc.
Good luck, and remember guys, this is world wide, and you can make money in
a lot of localities.
Lastly, you can work trades with your owners, trading work for the use of
their house, which you then trade for two weeks in Kauai, or somewhere else
you want to go. Let the owner know of your idea. House owners do it all
the time. We get three weeks in Kauai for one week in our Las Vegas house.
Except for air fare, and at times that is discounted, it's a good deal.
Rent cars and groceries kill you, but I love it there, and you can't beat a
three or four for one trade.
Actually, they *did pay into it--in the form of having to accept lower
wages...
( Though it's doubtful many business owners would pass along the savings )
--The sad truth is that far too many folks lack a meaningful safety net in
the way of personal savings...Besides, the end result is basically the same
( it leaves the ex-employee in need of *some sort of assistance )
Biggest difference probably being that unemployment insurance also provides
the employer with an incentive to at least try and be responsible in not
treating the labor pool as if it were an old pair of worn out socks.

Suggest you REALLY should get a dictionary--and look up the meaning of the
word "socialism"...
( Because apparently, you are clueless )
FWIW:
Socialism is working out very well for citizens who reside in the State of
Alaska ( oil royalty checks )...

tyvm, and I love you too.
Then Rich Grise spewed:
>>> But yet, there are still people who believe that socialism can
>>> possibly "work."

Suggest you put down that crack pipe and post something that at least flows
like a conversation. Or learn how to snip. Or quit answering that nutjob
Grise. WTF does what you have to say relate to what I said?
Nothing.
Now, go get your unemployment check and food stamps, and run over and pick
up a few rocks while yer out.
Yer out of here.
New luxury cars, and the occupants all seem to walk well without a
cane or walker. Then I end up having to park on the far side of the lot
and limp in on a cane.

I have been hauling a Veteran Air Force nurse to her VA
appointments. She ruined her back lifting patients, but SSDI still
hasn't made a decison, in the six+ years since she filed. She has to
make frequent trips to the VA hospital to the pain clinic, and the only
help she gets is food stamps. She let some ass convince her that she
couldn't file through the VA, and can't now, unless SS makes a decision
against her.

You can't fix stupid. You can't even put a Band-Aidâ„¢ on it, because it's
Teflon coated.
It got so bad in Florida that any doctor who issues a fake letter can
lose his license to practice medicine. It took me almost 5 years to get
one, even though I had trouble walking for over 10 years. That is the
reason a lot of my power tools are modified for handicap use.
Go fuck yourself.
> Nothing.
>
Correct.
See, my reply was to Rich....
> Now, go get your unemployment check and food stamps, and run over and pick

I have never in my life recieved food stamps and I have never collected
unemployment except for one time back in 1982 when I left the US Air Force.
For about 6 weeks.
> Yer out of here.
