Next time you feel what you are doing it pretty important, consider this.
Astronomers wanted to point the Hubble space telescope at a portion of the sky
which was totally black and thus apparently devoid of any objects. They wanted
to let the telescope do a time exposure for 10 days on this empty area occupying
the same field of view as a grain of sand held at arm’s length. Others argued
that using so much Hubble telescope time on empty space was a waste of money,
but the “Deep View” project did go forward.
