Citing health overhaul, AARP hikes employee costs
By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press
Thu Nov 4, 4:34 pm ET

WASHINGTON - AARP's endorsement helped secure passage of President Barack
Obama's health care overhaul. Now the seniors' lobby is telling its
employees their insurance costs will rise partly as a result of the law.

In an e-mail to employees, AARP says health care premiums will increase by 8
percent to 13 percent next year because of rapidly rising medical costs.

I bailed out when they went against letting us invest our money for
retirement instead of locking us into Social Security . I guarantee I'd be
better off financially if I'd invested that money instead of putting it into
a bankrupt system that's been repeatedly raped by politicians .
Side comment :
I say make 'em (politicians) use SS themselves , instead of the plush
retirement system they've voted for themselves . Same for health care !

They should have to use the VA for health care. After all, they
claim to 'serve their country'.

Politicians should only get paid if the budget is balanced, and there is
enough left over to pay them.

Oh, I like that idea.

Not only that, but no unapproved services, and no moving to the head
of the lines. That also means no dental care for them or their kids, if
it isn't 'Service Related'.

They're all in each others' pockets, democrat and republican alike. I fear
that the only way to get their attention would involve large quantities of
tar and feathers. ;-)

Maybe I've just been lucky; my local VAMC is in Long Beach, which is one of
the richest cities in the world, because of the revenues from the harbor.
It's evidently a very well-kept secret. Recently, I had a "sudden change in
a wart or mole", one of the "7 warning signs;" I feared I was getting
melanoma. So I made an appointment, the dermatologist was a very hot babe,
and she told me my wart wasn't even a wart - it was a "seborrheic
keratosis," totally harmless and innocuous. But it was ugly. She had a can
of freeze spray on her desk, and I asked her if she'd freeze it off anyway,
and she said, "OK."

The "wart" (keratosis) fell off in a couple of days and the spot is now
good as new!

So, I've got no problem with the VA, at least the one in Long Beach. There's
also a clinic within bike distance of me, and every visit I've made there
has been very pleasurable - they seem to know their stuff!

I'm sorry if your experiences there (in FL) have been "less than ideal." )-;

Thanks,
Rich

Sigh. The point is that some services are not availible to most
Veterans, by law. It doesn't matter where you live, or who your doctor
is.

AARP administration has been profiting from the sale of insurance on the
backs of their members. They've been doing it a long time. Shame the
members can't fire them.

It's that time of year now - Nove 11 thru Dec something - when you CAN.
I'd thought about it a lot. My drug plan insurance (AARP) went from $30
to nearly $150 last year.
And it's not much good for office visits.
But it covers emergency room visits quite well.

Only if it's service connected. If your military medical records are
missing, you're still screwed.
