The Seaport itself is lovely and a lot of fun. If you have a
family that doesn't care about antique engines, there's plenty
more to do there. They won't be bored.
Steam buffs can also cruise aboard Sabino. It's a lovely vessel
57 feet long, with the original engine in it. Boat and
engine were built in 1908. The engine is a 7&14x12" compound
about six feet tall. It's beautiful.
The show will be hosted by George King III, chief engineer of
Sabino. He knows his stuff and is a wonderful source of info for
anyone interested in steam.
You can get details by visiting
or for information specifically on the engine show, see
http://www.mysticseaport.org/events/events.html
I don't have their phone number handy, but it's on the web site
somewhere.

Hey Ed,
Write to George King III at Mystic Seaport. He would know. Very
knowledgable guy. Seems to me I read something in Wooden Boat
magazine a year or so ago about something in Portland, OR, but I can't
recall at all whether it was an annual or one time thing.
Not much closer to you, but there is a get together every year at
Kingston, Ontario.
Let me know if you do find anything out.
Good Luck

Good show, lots of fun, and lots to see.

What Brian said. King would probably know. If you go to
http://www.steamboating.com/wharfboat.html
you can find his email address.
But Mystic is a good side trip for any salt who gets to New England,
whether or not there's a show that weekend.

Boat Festival
On Labour Day weekend, the Inner Harbour is a forest of spruce
masts
and wooden bulwarks. Over 100 boats, all built before 1955,
line the
