Sen. Kerry's Daughter Alexandra Arrested On Suspicion of DUI
Updated: Thursday, 19 Nov 2009, 3:52 PM EST
Published : Thursday, 19 Nov 2009, 11:40 AM EST

From MyFox National Reports

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Sen. John Kerry's daughter, Alexandra Forbes Kerry, was
arrested in Los Angeles Thursday on suspicion of driving under the
influence, police told Fox News.

The Los Angeles Police Department's Norma Eisenman said Forbes Kerry was
released on $5,000 bail but did not release any other information.

TMZ.com cited police sources as saying Forbes Kerry, a 36-year-old film
producer and director, was pulled over in Hollywood at 12:40 a.m. (PST)
after allegedly violating a traffic law.

A formal blood alcohol test showed a reading of .06, TMZ.com said. The legal
limit is .08 in California, but drivers under the limit can still be
prosecuted for dangerous driving.

While Forbes Kerry was busted by police, another woman earlier this month
busted herself by calling 911 to report her own drunk driving . Mary Strey
of Granton, Wis., cited and charged with drunken driving and operating with
a blood-alcohol level of 0.1 percent or more.

It's a news item, it's not a partisan post.

But since you ask, I seem to recall some similar treatment of GWB's
daughters. The difference is Kerry's daughter is an adult.

balderdash - anyone with a modicum of morals objected when Bush's daughters
got dragged into the spotlight, we objected to Chelsey's media focus - if
the parents are not abusing the children, and the children are not taking
actions that subject the parents to blackmail, then this is nobody's
business except the family and the law. It is not suitable material for
national news, for political blogs, for newsgroups, or for gossip. It is
anti-family values (for those who profess such things), and it doesn't help
anyone. Allow this lady to be treated like a normal person who has been
picked up by the law - if she gets special treatment because of intervention
by her father, that is an issue - but her arrest is not your business, not
mine, and not appropriate for discussion here.

By that measure so was Sarah Palin letting her daughter have a live-in
fuckbuddy in the house.

Family is off limits. I've broken that cardinal rule once in the past
and refuse to sin again. Only when the public figure brings their family
into the arena does family become fair game.

Libby Loo has a long history of attacking family. Trolls understand that
family is precious and often goads people into uncivilized responses.
Just as Loo stalks one poster her speaking about "two mommies" and wants
to fuck the eyesocket of my mother. Now he's violating the privacy of a
private citizen to enrage people.

Use your Bozo filter.

And they take every opportunity to criticize anyone not part of their
group. All the while whining and complaining whenever they get criticism
when they do something wrong. It's part of being conservative. That
along with the lying and the fear of any kind of change. Those are three
hallmarks of conservatism; lying, fear, and hypocrisy. No wonder we
can't stand them.

Huh? It's a private family matter when a person drives drun on public
roads???

That's a new one. Seems kind of hypocritical, to mee.

For a moment, lets pretend that you were driving drunk.

Is this a victimless crime where you are the only one who can be

And once arrested, won't the local paper print your name and

It certainly would appear to be a matter for public concern.

Again and again and again, if the arresting officer sees "impairment"
it just doesn't matter. You are impaired, and if you have alcohol in
your blood or breath, you are drunk.

let's answer these one at a time

1. driving drunk is not victimless. arresting drunk drivers, or any
intoxicated or impaired drivers is proper - I for one am happy that the lady
in question was stopped before she harmed someone

2. generally the local paper (at least in this city) will not print the
names of people arrested except in the most egregious cases - a serial
killer, someone who causes a massive accident - a regular drunk driver will
not get any local publicity - to list all the nightly arrests would take
many pages.

3. it is a matter of public concern that DUI persons are arrested, tried and
sentenced fairly under the law. Their names are not, in general, a public
concern, though they are not kept private by policy.

My point was that whether the lady in question was or was not doing what she
was arrested for is not a point for making political statements and endless
blather about it on this or any other NG. Children of the rich, famous, and
politically connected can cross the line like everyone else. This is not
newsworthy. If their parents use undue influence to affect the outcome,
then it is newsworthy and it reflects badly on the parents.

The fact that she was arrested by cops from liberal Los Angeles just goes to
show that she was in the wrong, no matter what her politics are or who her
daddy is. I'm glad her drunk driving was posted to the world since now we
can prepare ourselves. Whenever someone related to liberal politics from
Massachussetts gets behind the wheel, we should immediately get off the
sidewalks.

how many arrests are there yearly for DUI?? right now there are about
15,000 alcohol related fatalities per year - presumably all those folks
should appear on this site?
http://www.stanforddaily.com/cgi-bin/?p=1034607 says that there were 31 DUI
incidents in 2008 - should all of these 31 appear?

this site
(http://www.adp.cahwnet.gov/FactSheets/Driving_Under-the-Influence_Statistics.pdf)
says

"More than 1.5 million drivers were arrested for
driving under-the-influence of alcohol or narcotics.
This is an arrest rate of 1 for every 121 licensed
drivers in the United States."

Feel free to post 1.5 million names and mug shots per year. But you have no
right to single out an individual to put on your site or any other site

Dear Mister Professional Troll - there is nothing in my posting that
suggests a liberal or conservative outlook - I suggest family values - I
suggest that individuals be treated as individuals. If you are a royalist
and believe that bloodlines are important, then you are in the wrong
country. In the USA we believe in individual rights and liberties. There
are countries that believe in royalty and the divine rights of kings.
Perhaps you were unaware of this?

so, because someone you object to acts in an improper manner, you somehow
think you are right to do the same? That is damned unchristian, it doesn't
match any moral system I have heard of - perhaps you can explain the
paradigm which you believe in?

All you can do is lie, aren't you ashamed of yourself? You've already been
busted on this lie. It was my dog who was interested in her eyesocket. The
big hypocrite who likes to call innocent babies zygots is suddenly offended

marrying each other are questioned. Who's your crazymother's fuckbuddy

I agree. It certainly does not have anything to do with metalworking.

And I agree that the lady ought be treated like a normal person.
Should not get any special attention or treatment. That said, she has
probably gained some special treatment because she is John Kerry's
daughter. And now she is suffering special attention for the same
reason.

Don't be confused. For years, Gunner has been a Handloading Buddhist
Republitarian -- probably the only one in existence. At election time, he
looks around in vain for someone who shares his views and whom he can vote
for, preferably a third-party candidate. Since those are mostly retired
honey-dippers and disabled repo men living on SSI, and with other obvious
shortcomings, he never finds a satisfactory one and winds up voting
Republican out of frustration.

But all of this has recently changed, he says. Since he got his medical bill
for his heart attack, he says he's become a Democrat. That's so he doesn't
have to explain why he allowed them to operate on him at a cost that he'll
never be able to repay, while remaining philosophically consistent.

All of this is open to question but it isn't worth doing so. Proceed at your
own risk.

Gunner likes to make up tall tales. There are plenty of people who do that,
and with certain exceptions, it doesn't matter much.

His physical behavior is his own business. But his public denigration and
dehumanizing of other people because of their politics is everyone's
business -- or it's the business of anyone who objects to it.

So fire at will. He won't care, because he's had to put up a lot of barriers
to deal with the facts of his existence, and putting up another wall is a
minor matter for him; it's become a habit.

I just try to correct some of the more egregious misrepresentations. It's
like shooting layups at the trash can with crumpled pieces of paper; nothing
will come of it, but it keeps up your mental game. d8-)

Well, see, I get all my news from Gunner, SteveB and Lib Loo. I listen
to whatever they report from bizzaro world, and just believe the
opposite.

And what the fuck is a "liberal news source" anyway? Is it anyone who
doesn't believe that Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin should share joint
presidency?

If somebody fave a shit (and I don't), they could contact the Kern
County election commissioner and request Gunners voting record. It
wont tell you who he voted for, but it will tell you in which
elections he voted and, in the case of primaries, for which party.

It depends on the state. Here in NJ, it's all public information.

This I learned when my son's girlfriend, who had an internship with the RNC
a year ago, told my son that I'm a registered Republican and that I've voted
in every election since 1978. d8-)

<sigh> When people start threatening to beat each other up, I tune out. That
whole business is beyond childish.

Do whatever you want; the threats are a fool's game.

If you've noticed, this group of NG's, brought together for us by Cliff (and
before Cliff, it was Gunner) is plonking the hell out of each other. Pretty
soon, it will be like a bad telephone connection, in which everyone is
saying "hello?" but no one is listening. Maybe that's a good thing. <g>

I'm an editor by trade. I'm just here to make blue-pencil corrections, and
to practice a little fact-checking and ameliorative re-write. Hardly anyone
is listening, but here's my salvation: I really don't care anymore. d8-)
There are maybe four or five people left here who are worth talking to. Most
of the smart ones have left, but the remaining few make it worthwhile.

<g> I've moved my serious reading and talking to a couple of other places
already. It's getting very hard to avoid the foul atmosphere without
moderators, and even they sometimes don't do very well at it.

I told one good guy who *is* worth talking to, in e-mail a week or so ago,
that if there's one more lost sane soul on RCM, I'm gone. If that comes to
pass, no one will be left to care, anyway. That's a win-win.

No, it is a theological organization that thinks the American people are an
ignorant unwashed bunch who need an elite ruling class to decide what is
right and best for the masses. And they see that there is no upside with
joining with the rabble, but rather (no pun intended) with the illuminati,
and being propagandists instead of true journalists.

See what the unemployed Leftists do to fill in their days?

Ive been busy out in the shop..changing to day hours now that winter
is almost here and its down in the high 30s at night.

Im redoing my reloading shop, and trying to figure out how best to
redo my electronics shop..all in an 8x14 room thats attached to my
home.

Yawn..or I could simply go and take a nap. Ive got 3 dogs at my feet
and two cats in my lap..and everyone has been yawning at me..so the
nap might win. Im by nature nocturnal..and this new day schedule is
kicking my ass.

YW. Even a brain damaged PTSD survivor has lucid moments.

And at least I have more sense and decency to confront parents of murdered
children and ask them, "How did you feel when you got the news?"

or

"As you can see, the winds from hurricane Frieda are growing, now up to 120
mph here on the Boulevard in Galveston, Texas ....... whoosh ...... the
sound of a Volvo blowing past .......... We're going to stay right here and
report all the news as it happens."

yet .........

They're absent when a man applies to run for president of the United States,

Shit, I'm unemployed, retired, disabled, and I can't find enough time in the

Well, Ed, I for one hope the group doesn't totally dissolve.

I don't talk here much, but do listen, and enjoy the education I get
along the way. Learning both from people who think but don't question
and those who habitually ask good questions and demand first
references for statements.

Maybe we can convince some of the survivalist types that returning to
dialup bulletin boards is the safest way to protect their precious
communication links.

I doubt if it will, Karl. But I wonder who will be left, and what there will
be to read except for exercises in extreme insults.

You'd better talk to Cliff. I've tried but to no avail. Since Gunner gave up
(largely, but not completely) his multi-NG provocative posts, Cliff has
picked up the banner and outstripped what Gunner was doing by a mile. He's
single-handedly turned the place into an open sewer, IMO. Oh, and TMT
appears to be doing the same thing now, although I don't see his posts. The
replies are enough to make you puke. Fortunately, those cut-and-paste jobs
of his don't seem to have legs, unlike many of the ones that Cliff posts.

It's easy to wreck a special-interest forum like this. Once you've found a
provocative subject that gets people riled up, just drag in some
professional pricks by cross-posting to the political and other k00k groups
and you'll wind up with insults and counter-insults that infect the whole
place. That's what's happened, and it was, and continues to be, intentional.

I don't know how to appeal to those people to stop it. At this moment the
cross-posting is at a low ebb, and we can see that the NG tends to get back
on track when there isn't all of that noise -- there are some interesting
threads going on. I'd like to see it continue that way, but some people
apparently do not.

Check the title of this newsgroup. Once the regulars allowed
discussion to stray from the topic even slightly (the "virtual coffee
shop" justification), it was predictably impossible to limit what
should be talked about. Gummer was the worst and he and his pals begat
cliff and tmt. The side effect is that some folks won't answer
questions from those who've overexposed their idiotic opinions. I
can't speak for others, but I for damned sure am not going to waste a
minute helping people who are in favor of hanging others for perceived
and ridiculously over-generalized politic views. Over the years
several people complained about off-topic posts and were shown the
door by a whole bunch of the regulars. So I gave up complaining a long
time ago. The group is what it is, and I've even grown to like the
Usenet version of the Springer Show. :-) But if the regulars wanted
to turn the newsgroup into what it was designed to be, then all they
need to do is 1. Quit starting off-topic threads. If it's not metal
related, then take it somewhere else. 2. Quit responding to off-topic
posts no matter who they're from. But neither is going to happen.
