How many weeks of your constant posting of this are we going to
endure? Plonk!
Your sliderule style "calculator" would be great--- if this was 1897. What
if we buy one and it becomes obsolete because you invent the abacus style
"calculator"?
Dixon
Every time he goes to Shapiro Supply and finds another box of
these slide rules from McDonnell-Douglas. They are really more
keepsakes and historical atifacts than invaluable shop tools.
The SFPM numbers are a bit suspect, but the conversions between
diameter and SFPM, flutes/RPM/chip load are excellent, and easier
and faster than anything else. I got a couple direct from the
mother lode.

One posting for every off-topic you made? I hope not!
How do you spell double-standard?

And these are at least on topic. I got a couple several years
ago, and I recognize a bit of my response in his quoted text in the eBay
auction. (The one about having a calculator in a Ziplock baggie is
mine.)
And I do find them more convenient for some things than my nice
HP-15C scientific calculator.
Enjoy,

My rebuttal is above.

No, I've got one I bought for a buck years ago at a flea market. Outer
portion is plastic, inner sliding part is card stock.

If you quote me, please quote completely, or in a way that is not
misleading.

I find it quite strange if someone (Clutch) is complaining about postings
here and at the same time is one of the mayor OTers. That's what is called
double-standard.
Me not commenting wether the OP is a SPAMmer or not. At least the post was
*clearly* on-topic. ACK!
Thanks,

Nick, I just got tired of three weeks of someone hawking the same
exact thing (ancient machining calculators). Do you think you have
the corner covered on being irked by some posters?
As far as the off topic posts, I know you are a very bright guy. Most
newsreaders have a function to kill a thread from your perspective.
Please learn how to use it.
Now if you are really hard core you can set your reader to kill any
thread I reply to but that might not work, since I do ask and or
answer on topic questions.
As far as the on topic / off topic, do you have a ratio? I'd really
like to see your stats. Maybe you can post a weekly list of top
offenders. Since you say i'm one of the mayor (major) offenders,
back it up.

As far as I'm concerned, Mr. MULEler is the major offender. He posts a
whine about every off-topic post daily, or did when I plonked him.
Wes, either just ignore him as most of us do or join us in plonking
him so you don't see his incessant whining. I only see his crap when
someone responds to his trolling, and I've plonked several people who
have constantly replied to him as well. Life's too short to suffer
fools, wot?

And if you are bored by his postings, why don't you simply filter him as you
suggested later on?

Should I kill-file you? No, you have good answers and questions when you are
on-topic and I like to read them.
The only solution is killing threads over and over again. Every day, every
week, every month. It is so boring! If all those OTs would stop, no need
for filtering again and again and again.
And it would be *so* easy if people would follow the charter.

Exactly! That's the problem. Many here are very good with their on-topic
postings, but are a **real** PITA with their OT-crap.
> As far as the on topic / off topic, do you have a ratio?
No, please do that for yourself. Be self-reflective and don't jump onto
every second (or whatever number) OT you find here. Sadly, 'nuff of chances
*not* to answer everything that can be read here.

Quite a bit self-centered view what "most" is or how much reference to
others you think are. Isn't it?
Wes certainly is able to distinguish by himself between my contributions
here (and somewhere else) and my complains about the OT here and -strange-
not in "that other" place.
