tive plastic dustjacket, 450+ pages, many photos/illustrations; cannot
find copyright date, looks to be second edition, probably late '40's to
late '50's; nice shape showing rubbing to covers, insides clean (but the
quality of the printing leaves a little to be desired). a text on the
basics of the marine steam powerplant; chapters include introduction to
the marine power plant; boiler construction; construction of scotch
boilers; water-tube boilers; combustion; boiler operation & maintenance;
boiler-water problems; reciprocating steam engines; steam turbines; el-
ectricity; refrigeration; pumps & unfired pressure vessels; miscellan-
eous equipment; respiratory apparatus; firefighting equipment rules &
regulations; engine room mathematics. fairly in-depth study.
