Since September, Republicans have claimed the Obama administration
covered up the truth about the attack on the American consulate in
Benghazi, Libya by altering the talking points Susan Rice used on the
Sunday morning talk shows. To bolster the story, Republicans misquoted
or significantly embellished the emails officials used to draft Rice’s
remarks, the CBS Evening News reported Thursday.

CBS News’ Major Garrett confirmed that it was a GOP source who leaked
the altered emails.

The miscast quotes affect at least two emails that include a State
Department spokesperson and a White House deputy adviser — the two
parties GOP lawmakers insist were trying to engage a cover-up on
behalf of the Obama administration to protect the president’s chances
of re-election.

A leaked email adds new language to State Department spokesperson
Victoria Nuland’s email, including a specific reference to al-Qaeda:

“The penultimate point is a paragraph talking about all the
previous warnings provided by the Agency (CIA) about al-Qaeda’s
presence and activities of al-Qaeda.“

The actual email read:

“The penultimate point could be abused by members to beat the
State Department for not paying attention to Agency warnings.“

A leaked email written by deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes
suggests that he asked for the final draft to remove references to
warnings about specific attacks, a demand made by the State
Department:

“We must make sure that the talking points reflect all agency
equities, including those of the State Department, and we don’t want
to undermine the FBI investigation.”

But the actual email did not mention the State Department:

“We need to resolve this in a way that respects all of the
relevant equities, particularly the investigation.”

Since the congressional hearings last week, the White House on
Wednesday released a hundred pages of emails from after the consulate
attack. The full version undermines already-thin accusations that this
is a White House scandal.

And now lame stream media is reporting on what Fox News was reporting on
months ago. Fox News was right, Obama's ministry of propaganda can no
longer deny this.

http://townhall.com/columnists/douggiles/2013/05/19/holy-cannibalism-bat-man-liberals-are-eating-liberals-n1600392?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl

Grab some popcorn, folks. Pull up a chair. Get yourself a 6 pack. No … a
12pack and join with me and other liberty-minded folks as we watch the Left
finally sink their comedic and inquisitive teeth into the rotted flesh of
the Hope & Crap Machine that we’ve been caterwauling about for the last
five, seems like twenty, years.

I don’t know about you guys but last week was a little gift from God as we
got to see the Lame Stream Media get a modicum of game and finally call
Obama and his ilk out on the carpet for their Benghazi Bullsmack, their
egregious bullying of patriotic non-profits by the IRS and the Department of
Just-Us’ tawdry hacking of the AP’s iPhones.

Chief amongst my joys during the previous seven days was watching John
Stewart slam dance Obama, night after night, for BHO’s Eddie Haskellesque
prevarications, his Clintonian verb parsing and his OJ-like blame-shifting.

The Daily Show’s host vehemently ripped into Obama, stating BHO and the IRS
vindicated conspiracy theorists by purposefully hamstringing non-profit
applications sought by freedom loving citizens. Stewart also hammered away
at el Presidente‘ssupposedly “not knowing” about the IRS’ greasy tactics and
the DOJ’s egregious 1st amendment breech “until he heard it on the news like
we did.” Stewart said, “I wouldn’t be surprised if President Obama learned
Osama bin Laden had been killed when he saw himself announce it on
television.”

However, the crème de le crème was served on Wednesday night when John
finally acknowledged that outfits like Fox News, who’ve been seriously
miffed for many moons at Obama’s bullying tactics, were, after all, right
and had every reason to be outraged.

Stewart, went on to compare Barack to disgraced former President Richard
Nixon and/or Mr., Magoo. For those not hip to Mr. Magoo, he was a cartoon
character who caused a lot of chaos because of his nearsightedness that was
aggravated by his obstinate refusal to admit the problem. BTW, people and
animals that had the misfortune to cross paths with Mr. Magoo usually left
that encounter thinking he was a lunatic verses just being merely
nearsighted. What’s that they say about “life imitating art?”

As Stewart acknowledged, conservatives and libertarians have been pointing
out the obvious for a good long time, but last week the tide turned and now
comedians, journalists and talk show hosts of the progressive persuasion are
screaming, Whiskey … Tango … Foxtrot.

Heck, Mr. “Thrill-Up-My-Leg” Chris Matthews has seemingly lost his Obama
buzz saying, in light of BHO’s worst week ever and his evident cover-ups,
that, “President Obama obviously likes giving speeches more than he does
running the executive branch … What part of the presidency does Obama like?
He doesn’t like dealing with other politicians — that means his own cabinet,
that means members of the congress, either party. He doesn’t particularly
like the press…”

Holy crikey, Chris! You’re sounding like Hannity. Jesus must be coming back
soon.

Yep, folks, it appears as if Obama’s crabbiness, condescension and his
constant “it wasn’t me, man … I didn’t know” -- when he and his ilk are
caught red-handed doing something sick -- is no longer ignorable even by
those who cheerfully carried water for him.

This leaves me to believe this administration might want to put on a cup
because it could now get really rough.

Give up your dead horse beating.

Your childish abuse of the CBS who broke the news has no bearing on
the fact that the GOP doctored WH emails then "leaked" them.

Dem Congressman slams GOP for doctored Benghazi emails

http://www.salon.com/2013/05/19/dem_congressman_slams_gop_for_doctored_benghazi_emails/

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff is calling for answers into how emails
about the attacks on Benghazi were leaked and altered, reportedly by
Republican aides, which Schiff says was intended to further a
politically-driven narrative.

CBS News reported last week that emails between the CIA, White House
and State Department, leaked to ABC News and purportedly showing the
State Departments key role in drafting talking points about the
attacks, were sent out by Republicans, and had key differences from
the originals released by the White House.

Schiff, a Congressman from California who sits on the House
Intelligence Committee, said in a statement on Saturday that the House
Oversight Committee, and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who chairs the
committee, should provide answers for how the emails leaked in the
first place, saying that Congresss oversight authority certainly
does not justify the leak of falsified information intended to further
a politically-driven narrative.

From the statement:

When the GOP was given access to the lengthy email documents weeks
ago, it was clear that their theory the White House inserted the
protest in the talking points to mislead the country had been
completely debunked. The erroneous statement that the attacks on our
facilities in Benghazi began as a protest was drafted by the
intelligence community and remained in the talking points from
beginning to end. This was the intelligence communitys belief at the
time, and as flawed as that assessment was, the emails made clear the
White House had no role in it.

But instead of coming clean with the country, someone in the GOP
decided to change portions of the emails to discredit the White House,
and leak them. This is deplorable conduct, and all the more so if it
comes from those entrusted to fairly and objectively investigate
claims of misconduct in government. Congressman Issa owes the public
an answer as to who doctored these emails, who leaked them to the
press, and who is being held accountable.

A GOP leak of doctored e-mails [became] the basis of GOP talking
points, Schiff told the Washington Post. Thats a pretty disturbing
irony considering the investigation was supposed to be about spin on
talking points.

Prove who did it?

It's undisputed that the emails were altered and TPTB are closing in
on the so called "leaker".

So Who Lied to ABC News About the Benghazi Emails?

http://news.yahoo.com/lied-abc-news-benghazi-emails-190506030.html

ABC News' Jonathan Karl's revelation of the White House's role in 12
revisions to the Benghazi talking points propelled the story, long
percolating in conservative media, into a bona fide scandal. But then
CNN's Jake Tapper's revelation of what the emails actually said
revealed that to be a fake scandal. So who lied to Karl?

Republicans leaked the email summaries, CBS News' Major Garrett
reports. Given the way Karl's anonymous source justified the
inaccurate summary in a subsequent email, that seems likely. The
source said:

"WH reply was after a long chain of email about State Dept
concerns. So when WH emailer says, take into account all equities, he
is talking about the State equities, since that is what the email
chain was about."

Who could that be? On February 15, the general counsel for the
national intelligence director's office briefed the Senate
Intelligence Committee, leadership, and staff on the emails, according
to the Associated Press. On March 19, there was a similar briefing in
the House. Karl reports that included the members of the House
Intelligence Committee, their staff, and a senior aide to Speaker John
Boehner. (Boehner was invited, but sent an aide instead.) That's a lot
of people, though a lot less than all Republicans on Capitol Hill.
It's 12 senators, plus the staffers who attended the meetings, and 12
representatives, plus Boehner's aide.

And we can probably narrow the source even further, to just the House.
A report by five House Republican committeemen made claims that seem
based on the inaccurate summaries of the emails. As The Daily Beast's
Eli Lake reported April 23, "to protect the State Department, the
Administration deliberately removed references to al-Qaeda-linked
groups and previous attacks in Benghazi in the talking points used by
Ambassador Rice." (We now know that the CIA's Mike Morrell actually
took out those references.)

The report says Rice "was informed that the talking points were
created for Congressional members, and modified to protect State
Department equities and the FBI investigation."

The phrase "State Department equities" is awfully close to the
language of the summaries provided to ABC's Jonathan Karl, as well as
the justification of the summaries.

Only House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Rogers was both on the
committee that saw the emails and signed the House report, but
obviously the report, and the "equities" line, could be based on the
emails of many representatives' staffers.

You know what's really interesting here? I find plenty of claims that
Republublicans leaked the information but no actual evidence of who
did the leaking. It stands to reason then, that the information that
Republicans did it is in fact a leak, hence my mention of hypocrisy.
Now I may have missed something here, but if you have specific
information that a specific individual leaked the emails, feel free to
post it.

So the Republicans hacked into secure State Department and White House
email servers and "altered" emails?

Really?

No kidding?

If they were that smart we wouldn't have to have this conversation because
you would just be a bad memory.

No, apparently they just typed up their own falsified accounts of the
e-mails they already had private access to through various Congressional
Committee investigations, altering or adding what they wanted or needed
to manufacture at least the appearance of some credence to their
previously trumped up and groundless accusations, then "leaked" the
supposed texts of their forgeries through their friends in the media,
claiming they were quotes taken verbatim from the originals.

No one rational, only the usual extremist partisan fools who don't mind
playing idiots for their cause, is doubting the official, original
versions released by the White House. You can bet on that; they'll be
clutching that last straw to the bitter end, then beyond. That's what
crazies do.

But it will probably take a Special Prosecutor fully expose all the
facts and the specific guilty parties on that. My question is: who's
going to jail for it?

No evidence of that.

Sure there is. The evidence, so far, is that what the Republicans
claimed were quotes "taken" from the e-mails in question were shown to
be false when compared to to the full e-mails themselves released by the
WH. Since these were reportedly the complete e-mails themselves,
released directly from the official source, and not mere alleged quotes
supposedly taken from them by unknown "Republican sources" and passed
through further unknown hands, their authenticity is certainly dubious,
at least.

SFAIK, no credible person is challenging the accuracy of the materials
released by the WH or alleging that they have been falsified in any way.
Best evidence rules clearly support the WH version as being accurate,
and the Republican claims to be false. Moreover, the only way the
claimed Republican version can be false is that some Republican
political operative intentionally made them false.

When is a Special Prosecutor going to be appointed, and who's going to
jail for this partisan political fraud, forgery and deceit against the
American people?

So you believe the Republicans could alter email but Democrats couldn't?
Are the Democrats that stupid? Democrats are stupid but very crafty, they
spend a lot of time and effort to get away with immorality, cheating, lying,
blaming others, you know, the same things that piece of shit criminals do.
And the Republicans want it investigated so they'll get caught with altered
email? Are you out of your mind?

Kind of like the cartoon where the homeowner tells his wife "The robber told
me to get back to bed or he'd tell the police I have a gun.".

Goat, you blowhard, even ABC admitted that their version, the one that
started this whole thing and that the rightards are hanging onto for
dear life, was "related" to them by a GOP operative. He apparently
added some editorial comments of his own before passing it on.

It was all over the news. If you can't find it, ask a ten-year-old to
help you out.

The Republicans leaked what they claimed were quotes from WH emails.
When the actual and complete emails were disclosed, their lies were
exposed. No credible person is alleging otherwise, or challenging the
authenticity of the WH-released emails. You are simply clutching at
straws. You've got nothing. You're merely trying to defend lies
because you prefer the the lies to the truth. This is a sadly very
common character and/or intellectual defect among extremist partisans.
My question is, who's going to jail for this?

The whole thing doesn't mean shit. We are going broke. Our nation is
drowning in debt. Bill Clinton handed over a balanced budget to George
Bush. Bush spent us into hell and now Obama and the democrats and
throwing gasoline on the flames. We are handing our children a fucked
up, broke country. Look at John McCain, he is to old and set in his
ways. He is an example of who should not be in office. Look at Pelosi,
a career hack who is out of touch and spends money like it was growing
on trees. Time to throw them all out of office.

Jeff just knows that the Republicans have awesome mental powers,

To bad Dubya didn't doing anything about the subprograms on the
