Question: When is a 5 gal pail of crystalized honey funny?

Answer: When it doesn't belong to you?

There must be a moral somewhere. I couldn't conjure one up.

What I did do was to turn my water heater up to 160F (71C)
and let the pail sit in a laundry sink. Even with the
water being periodically and being refreshed when the temp
dropped below 140F (60C), there was not much of an impact
after 8 hours.

Anyone have any ideas over than a 5 gal microwave?

You must be much stronger than I am. This is as hard as
concrete. This evening my son suggested I spray water
on the surface and use a heat stick.

OK. I started digging mine out when it was still liquid in the center and
have been chipping around the side of the 'well'. I didn't realize how hard
yours is. How old is it? Mine is two or three years old.

Mine may be four years old. My childbride with the help of our
older son did a massive house cleaning job one weekend when I
was not here. This pail found its way into the far end of a
deep and isolated closet. I found it by accident - otherwise
it could have been remained where it was until we were loading
a moving van. ;)

The stuff is harder than a jarhead. ;)

Add a little water & make that jarhead a swabby! Seriously though, honey is
hygroscopic. It attracts water, so adding some should soften the rock hard
mass and being in a warm place should help the process along.

Hi Dick,
Assuming it's a plastic pail [and your not in love with
it] just use a stanley knife to cut the plastic away and end up with
a large lump of honey..

Should I send you some mead made with the Boht Jolika pepper you sent
me??
