I got a notice from Yahoo! Geocities that they will close Geocities
sometime this year. It's not entirely clear what that means, and I
haven't settled on what to do, if anything.

Therefore, if you wish to keep the Notable Knot Index as a reference,
it may be a good time to print out what you want to keep and put it in
a binder. I suppose you could also save it on your computer in a
format of your choosing if you wish.

Well, the way I read it, they are doing away with their free hosting, and
want us to upgrade to the "for fee" hosting services offered by Yahoo!

I moved both my not-for-profit sites to another host.

The ZIP file is thanks to the computational wizardry of "dfred" at the
IGKT forum. He managed to get the link structure to work
independently of the website. I'll have to figure out how he did that
someday. :)

Gotcher back. Will host the Notable Knots on my site as a subdomain.
All that work needs continuing recognition and availability.

I look forward to it. Thanks.

As I stumble through the basics of web design, I think I've figured
out the relative linking trick, at least partially. So, here is my
tentative attempt at extricating the Notable Knot Index from
Geocities:

http://notableknotindex.webs.com/knotindex.html

The thing that makes me suspicious is that there are no ads on the
pages, despite being free. So, if any of you web experts know of
reasons why I shouldn't be using webs.com (worms, viruses, spyware,
etc.), feel free to let me know.

Once again, many thanks to all those who have given me help. All
mirror sites are very much still welcome to exist, if for no other
reason, to provide stability since free sites sometimes don't hang
around.
