The verticals supporting the handrail are quite far apart, and I would
like to make a rope safety barrier. I am thinking the most reasonable
way to do this is using crochet methods, so that there is only one
free end and I don't have to pass a huge spool of rope through
thousands of loops. But .. I need a pattern to follow. Any ideas?

How far apart are the verticals? How large of a opening is
acceptable? Such that a 4" sphere cannot pass throught, for example?
I don't know about using a crochet stitch to do it, but if you use a
netting needle, it would make it easier to make a traditional net than
using the spool.
