Well, all my hard work is soon going to pay off as there is a big
bonus coming up. So naturally I am considering blowing it on brewing ;-)
I want to put together something fully-automated. I'd prefer to get
something "out-of-the-box" if possible, depending upon price of course.
A guy across the river here in Quebec apparantly sells a fully-auto
3-Tier 50 litre system for about $2000 CDN ($1350 US). The only
problem is that it's electric, and I just don't like that. It's fully computer
controlled similar to http://www.exothink.com/ (Hey, do you think
this guy would make me one ;-)) The price is OK by me, but I
just don't want electric.
I'll build if I have to, but would prefer to avoid that simply because
I have less and less time these days. Oh, and did I mention that I'm
damned lazy ;-) ;-) I actually wish I had time to build because that
would be pretty fun.
So what else is out there? I know there is also http://www.braxonia.de/,
but that is crazy expensive.
thanks,
-Alan

Is the "guy... in Quebec" the same guy who spoke at CABA's March in
Montreal this year ? If not, he's at "les Specialistes en Acier
Inoxydable" (or something like that) in Boisbriand, Qc. I believe I
heard him say that his system (similar to what you describe)can be
fabricated with a gas burner instead of electric.
As BrewerBob said, no affilliation, standard disclamer...

Big mistake. You will miss the hands on aspect of brewing and regret this
purchase the rest of your life. Think of something sensible to use this
money on, like additional mortgage payments or a new car. ANYTHING but a
beautiful, new stainless steel, automated brewing setup that I would just
absolutely $&%$# KILL FOR BUT CAN"T AFFORD!!!!!
But which I wouldn't really enjoy. Not in the least. Just a big...
mistake... bad... bad...
sigh.

WOW!!! I guess you'll have to make yourself happy by humping those
fermentors around and tweaking recipes.
Your division of Nortel must be doing well :-)
Just make sure that it's fully computer controlled and get the source
code - hee hee.
