I was all set to brew a batch of IPA this afternoon, when it occurred
to me that I don't have any grain bags! Local brew shop is closed
today and tomorrow. I'd hate to wait two days to brew. Anyone have any
suggestions for something else I could use as a grain bag to steep my
grains?? thanks.

One alternative is not to use a bag and use a strainer later.

Nylon hose would work fine, as would a light sock. You could also find
replacements at a cooking store or perhaps a department store with a
cooking department if they are open on the weekend.

Hardware, paint or home improvement - nylon paint strainer bags. Give
them a good wash & boil before use to remove any weirdness. They come in
a 5-gallon size.

I guess I would skip anything with cotton in it; which pretty much includes
all socks. You will end up with lint in your beer. Granted, it will probably
all come out in the trub, but I think I would recommend well pre-boiled nylon
hose.
