Tia, I called all the pharmacies in town (five in all) and only one
had the 28 part box - made a mad dash for the place, and discovered
that the box has a sliding mechanism that opens slots in sequence.
So, if you want a colour that's in the back of a row, you risk
spilling ALL the other beads in that row. Was the one you mentioned
different? If so, what was the brand name, please?

Many tnx

A good place to get multi-compartment boxes of different sizes to to check
at hardware stoes that sell fishing stuff. Or of course, many craft and
bead places sell these boxes as well.

These are all more useful than any of the things I have seen at pharmacies.

I use multi-compartment boxes and nut and bolt holders that I
purchase at hardware stores. I have seen the same type of plastic
boxes at bead stores for 4 times the price. The nut and bolt trays
are great for storing seed beads and I like them much more than the
multi-compartment boxes that I use for larger beads and such.

Have a great weekend.

I used the little round stacking fishing things, but they are a brittle plastic that aged
fast and drove me nuts. They came apart without warning, and sometimes shattered in my bag. I
spent good time sobbing with frustration as I sorted four different kinds of beads!
Now I use the medium sized jewelers zip-lock bags. They store
small, are reasonably sturdy (and can be repaired with tape). When I want to bead, I
have about 8 of those Prang watercolor water holders. They are deep enough, but not
so much I have to dig, and have slanted sides that allow for easy scooping. When I'm
done, I just pour the beads back in the little bag. Because of the way I keep my beads, I have a
small bead bag (one of those beautifully made leather mini-duffels you get in Tijuana for $7) which
weights at LEAST 30 pounds and has enough beads to spread across a good-sized table. Mind
you, I do have to work out at the gym to be strong enough to carry it...

> Hi there! Check the post to the previous seed bead holder. If it's gone, I must tell you that my
best solution after beading for the last 10 years (pretty constantly) are those medium sized jewelers
zip-lock bags. They don't come apart like the stacking fish things. You don't bead out of them;
you bead out of these little Prang watercolor cups (like we used in grade school)--when you're
done you just pour the beads back in the bag. The bags age reasonably slowly and can be
mended with tape. When they break, they generally just leak, not explode. The medicine
compartment thingies are too deep--if you like to scoop your beads, you'll go nuts. And then
there's the spillage problem you mentioned (never get anything to store beads where there's a
removable barrier between compartments. Believe me, the barriers will move themselves and you
will be sorting beads!).

The brand I buy is by E-Z DOSE.
Iwrite the color number on the flap. But store them flat, because
the catch mechanism is ok but I once had a major spill.
Also, this brand has removeable days, so you can mix and match rows
of colors.

Hope this helps, Boni-Sue.
