Now that I'm all set up at home, I can just wind glass until they're round
and centered in my sleep! And no, there are no pictures to view because
I've termed these "beads only a mother could love" and put them in a drawer
in a baggie with the date of the class...in a couple years, I'll pull 'em
out to see how far I've come <G>

Lucky you! Where are you taking the classes? I'd love to take some, too, but
I don't know where they're held around here. I'm in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area.
Anyone know of any lampworking classes here? -- Beckie
People just don't realize how difficult it is to make lampwork. I don't do it
myself, but the more I learn, the more my awe grows.

making little devil beads?
Hi Beckie,
I know of one lampworker... information below:
Angi Graham
Stephenville, Texas
blue...@our-town.com
254-965-6005
Beginning Intermediate and Advanced classes
Classes are $125/day.
All supplies and tools are included I have had been teaching for 3.5 years, and making beads for 5 years. Classes in fusing and sand
blasting and glass painting can also be scheduled.
Right now she actually has a guest lampworker coming out next week to teach:
****************
3 days of Sculptural Lampworking with Al Janelle
March 15, 16, & 17th 2002.
Cost $375.
Students will observe Alšs demonstrations at the torch. Al will provide detailed commentary and answer any questions that the
students may have.
Students will then have an opportunity to practice these skills at their torch.
Demonstrations will include (as much as is humanly possible):
1. Creating a 3D lizard upon the surface of a bead
2. Creating a 3D stand alone rabbit - (his true sculptural stuff started with this classic).
3. Creating a 3D animal face pendant - (hešll probably dog this demo).
4. Creating a 3D bird face pendant - Eagle Or Rooster (youšve got to see how the eagle beak is coaxed from a dab of glass).
5. Creating a 3D mask pendant - (the Green Man comes alive to protect your garden).
6. Creating a 3D iris bead - (painting with molten glass and achieving floral splendor).
7. Making feather / flower / and leaf canes (the palette is unlimited).
8. Creating 3D miniature frogs - (are they over-wintering in your pond?)
9. Making complex ribbon twists - (he wrote the book on this stuff, a brief primer, time permitting).
Learn how to achieve incredible detail in the eyes, mouth, nose, and ears by using the proper tools and the techniques that Al
employs. Learn the color combinations that Al uses to coax a rainbow of feather / flower canes out of soft glass. Watch as Al
overlays colors and deftly twists out complex ribbon twists. Marvel at the pages (in the fortyšs) of useful notes and step by step
instructions.
This class will be extended hours for the first two days. After supper,wešll go back into the studio, for more demos and practice.
If you don't learn too much in this class, you were napping.

Sooz, I saw some devil beads somewhere recently. I did, I did! Web,
catalog....I can't remember! But I will hunt the source down and post as soon
as I find it. I remember thinking they were so cute! -- Beckie
You sure they weren't Schermo's gargoyle beads?
