So what's so special about original and vintage film posters?

Well the movie posters on this site are actual posters supplied by
film studios to cinemas for display in and outside of their premises.
Movie posters have been produced ever since films were first shown in
theatres from as far back as the beginning of the 20th century, the
idea being taken from vaudeville shows. Posters from the early part of
the 20th century are very rare and much sort after, especially pre
1935, some fetching prices in the six figure area. The reason why
posters from this era are so rare is that they were not recognised as
collectable items so the cinemas and studio's destroyed almost all the
copies leaving only a very few originals, found in theatres and studio
store rooms.

There are many reasons why people collect movie poster art and movie
memorabilia. Some people collect for purely sentimental reasons, they
want to capture a memory of a particular movie that has special
meaning to them. You might have a favorite movie that brings back lots
of positive memories. It may have been the first movie you went to at
a theatre; it could be the first movie that really moved you
emotionally; it could have been the first movie you saw with your
wife, boyfriend, brother or sister.

Whatever the reason you liked a particular movie why not have it
hanging on your wall?

Movie poster art makes for a great gift; what's his/her favorite
movie. Get them the poster! Thinking of a unique wedding present.
Instead of buying the bride and groom some kitchen utensils or an
appliance, find out their all time favorite movie and buy them framed
copies for the wedding, a very cool present, one they will not ever
forget.

Some folks collect movie posters for the artwork displayed on them.
There is absolutely no doubt that when you see many of the very cool
vintage posters. You cannot help but admire the attention to detail,
design and creativity. Many movie posters are simply works of art.

There are still others who collect any memorabilia devoted to a
specific actor, director, genre, etc. There are probably as many
reasons to collect movie poster art, as there are collectors.

Collecting movie memorabilia is not only a hobby, but it is also a way
of "owning" a piece of movie history and, at times, a good investment.
Who would have thought, in 1932, that a one-sheet poster of "The
Mummy", starring Boris Karloff, would one day sell for USD$453,500.00

This site has a number of original movie posters for sale from various
decades throughout the 20th century and following various genres such
as Comedy, Sci-fi, Drama etc, from films like The Godfather James Bond
007 and Star Wars amongst others and actors such as Clint Eastwood.
There are many posters available at affordable prices which are still
collectible items and may increase in value over the years. Have a
look through my online searchable Gallery.

I do not deal in reproductions or commercial posters, remember these
posters are original posters as supplied to theatres for display, so
many will show signs of wear and tear such as pin holes, tears on
borders, separation around the folded lines (most posters were folded
prior to the 1990s before being sent out to cinemas and have remained
folded unless restoration has taken place), smudges, tape or tape
marks, defacing of art work and watermarks.

On my site like many others, I use a grading system plus an
explanation of any damage, with a photograph of the actual poster
where possible.
