Boy Bruce, electronic money is sooo much better than $500 bills. Yeah
fucking right. My mother is dealing with more credit card fraud.

I say, ban and renounce credit cards and all other forms of electronic
money, and bring back ALL large denominations $500-$10,000 and of
course, add a $200 and a $2,000 bill. This identity theft with your
"wonderous plastic" is bullshit. Times were much easier when people
had larger denominations of Federal Reserve notes, and there wasn't
all of this computer shit and so much of this fraud bullshit going on.
My father even said he would like to "kill the asshole who invented
the computer"

I also had a credit card company try to rip me off over $100, which I
luckily got straghtened out. I don't "think" anyone could have ripped
me off, if I had a $500 bill, instead of a credit card with $500
electro cash on it.

So you people might as well give it up with your "Credit cards are so
much better than cold hard cash" issue. I just don't see the light in
that, probably because there isn't any.

This is certainly the down side of electronic banking.

Anyhow, what this is really about is that there are rotten people out there
who will always try and figure out a way to steal money from decent honest
people. There will always be a loophole that some person of bad moral fiber
will exploit.

Honestly, I am sorry to hear that your family is going through the pain and
trouble of identity theft or just plain money theft. I hope that the police
catch the person that stole from your family and throw them in a hole. Some
of us may have given you a hard time about your "big bills" ideas but that's
just about ideas. No one likes criminals. I hope your family comes out of
this in good shape.

Lighten up, son. I've had a couple experiences with credit card fraud
involving five figures of charges. A call to my bank eliminated my worries
and my only inconvenience was having to get a new card number. No one
stole my identity. He stole my credit card number. I still have my
identity. Had my wallet been stolen with some of your $500 and $1,000
bills, who should I call?

So how old are you to remember $500 and $1,000 bills in commerce? Based on
your Jeckel - Hyde persona posts here, I think you simply have a life
experience problem that you can't seem to get over.

No one can stop you from thinking that way. My credit cards have no
"electro cash" on them, and if one should be stolen or compromised, I cancel
it and am out nothing. Plus they're handy as hell. Ever tried to order
something on the internet with a $500 bill? Oh, I forgot. Your father
cursed the a____e who invented the computer.

Because of your opinions, others should give up their credit cards for cash?
Better stick to those letters to your reps, and watch out that windmill
doesn't kick you in the ass.

That sounds like a comment that stems from extreme ignorance.

Europe has 100, 200 and 500 Euro notes. For most things in the
Netherlands, it is hard to spend such a large note. Everyone knows
that people do make counterfeit bills. Unless you are quite
proficient at spotting them and never fail to check, you can more
easily lose with large notes.

Nearly every merchant in the Netherlands has a bill checker. Are those not
foolproof?

I haven't studied how the bill checkers work. The few cases where I
have spoken to someone that encountered a counterfeit note they
insisted that they received it at the bank. The banks have better
training than the shops and have bill checkers themselves.

The usual rule in electronic countermeasures is to study what the
enemy system (e.g., the bill checker) likes and give it lots of that.

My wallet was stolen a few years ago, about $8000 was charged on my
credit cards.
Not only did I not have to pay one cent of these charges, the thief
was caught by the
paper trail he left. I dare say $8000 in cash would have never been
seen again.

Any why must you use vulgar language?

One of my debit cards was copied when I left it at the counter of a
shifty pay-before-you-pump gas station. I learned the address of the
thieves--they had ordered a pizza delivered using my card--and went to
the police. The police said that I couldn't do anything because I was
not the victim, my bank was. The bank was also uninterested in pursuing
the matter, and the gas station didn't care what its employees did.
If there is any disincentive to commit this sort of crime, I don't see
it.
