Because the turnout is expected to be huge and could break all time
records my
strategy is to leave work at noon and take the rest of the day off so
I can vote in the
early afternoon when hopefully the line will not be as long as it most
likely will be in
the late afternoon and early evening when I expect a crush of people.
Numismatically we will get a new treasury secretary, mint director
and Treasurer of the United
States along with an official inaugural medal and most likley a slew
of unofficial medals
and tokens. Most likely some shakeup of congressional committees
etc. will occur that could affect numismatic related legislation.

I voted back on Saturday, October 4, 2008 by mail
here in Arizona. They are expecting and 80 percent
turnout of voters in Arizona.
There is now a real chance that John McCain may
loose in Arizona. John McCain is only leading by the
margin of error in polls in Arizona.
This is the first Presidential in forty-eight years
that no incumbent is running for reelection as
President (1960).
This is the first presidential election that might
Elect either the first African American, or the
Oldest American as president.
Good Historical Election Site Available
There are several Websites that summarize previous
presidential elections, but this one is particularly
nice, with photos of all the candidates and electoral
college maps going back to 1864. It also has many
links to Wikipedia articles. Definitely a good find
for political history buffs. It gives one a better
sense that things change. For example, the 1924 map
shows the Democrats winning the entire south--and the
Republicans winning everything else except Wisconsin.
The difference between the 1928 and 1932 maps
is astounding.

That's not a "misspelling". That's a different name, spelled
correctly.
I took "Mike" Wallace to be a humorously deliberate misstatement
inserted to make it a triad of name errors. Even if it wasn't a
deliberate error, "Mike" is way too far different from "George" to be
called a misspelling. It would be an error of fact.

I dunno. I kinda had fun replying to the earlier post that cited three
presidential candidates' surnames and spelled two of them wrong. Typos,
maybe. But I guess people are far too busy nowadays to take the time to
proof-read or spell check even a short post before sending it. Then again,

OK, to each their own. I have been called several times for jury
duty and served on one of them,
sure it was inconvenient but I didn't see it as that big a deal and it
is kind of interesting to see
how a courtroom works in person.

Plus, depending on what state you're in, they may also use DMV
records (I know California uses voter rolls and DMV records).
I guess if you're willing to not drive, and never vote, you can
avoid jury duty, but it seems like it would be less inconvenient to
just man up and serve on a jury once in a while.
