A high-value coin is left in a Salvation Army kettle
The Salvation Army got a surprise donation at one of
its red kettles: A one-ounce U.S. Mint American
Buffalo coin.
The coin, with a face value of $50, was dropped into
a kettle at the Leawood Hy-Vee store at 12200 State
Line Road last weekend. Capt. Matt Grindle of the
Salvation Army said the coin is worth at least $1,000.
There are no immediate plans for the coin, but it is
likely the coin will be auctioned off or sold to get
the most value from it, said spokeswoman Amanda Waters.
