There is $5.00 Dollars in a roll of dimes.
(20 rolls x $5.00 dollars) = $100.00 dollars.
There is $0.50 Cents in a roll of pennies.
(20 rolls x $0.50 cents) = $10.00 dollars.
Ouch! That must have hurt a lot.

Police looking to identify man involved in coin roll scam
July 22, 2009
NEW PALTZ - The New Paltz Police Department is looking
to identify a man who allegedly stole money from two
stores by pretending that rolls of pennies were in fact
dimes.
(Two Photo Links Images of nice looking business Man)
The man asked a clerk at each stores to cash in
approximately 20 rolls of of "dimes" for bills, saying
that he was a manager of a local business needing
assistance. Both times, the clerks complied. Once the
suspect left, they discovered that the rolled coins
actually pennies, stuffed inside dime rolls, police said.
The incidents occurred at the New Paltz Super 8 Motel
on June 22 and the Subway sandwich shop on July 19.
Police believe he may have committed the scam in the
Fishkill area as well.
Anyone with information about this scam or the suspect
is asked to call the New Paltz Police Department at
845-255-1323.
..
One cent coins will not fit inside 10 cent coin rolls because they are
much larger in diameter.
Did this guy print up fake dime rolls sized to fit cents?
The flat wrappers.
OK, I just tried an old cent in a flat dime wrapper and it can be
squeezed in with a bulge in the wrapper. I imagine you could cram in
something like 40 cents in a dime wrapper since they are thicker than
dimes.
Would I take the time to do this - heck no - <aside from the
illegalities of it> .. but there are some crazies out there that will,
and sadly enough some crazier Store Clerks who will accept the same !!!!
Does nobody remember that coin wrappers were once a flat sheet ? With an
angle cut at one end. You laid a roulade of coins down and rolled them up in
the wrapper. There were even wrappers for multiple denominations, that when
finished showed the coin type in a little cut out window.
